Be careful (what you wish for Bill)...the city of Clayton has no idea how many people will be in the area starting this week...I was advised by the local grocer to get stocked up by Wed. or face the traffic issues on 441... all the grocery stores are on the east side of the highway and even on minor holidays traffic is nuts....

Bill...you missed the chance...you could have rented out camp/tent sites for $$$...just had to advertise on the astrology type places...!

Didnt miss nothin, I have had people try to get me to advertise parking and camping. No thank you. Renters leave messes and expect you to clean up after them. Guest will sort of clean up after themselfs. I also dont want any souvenir hunters prowling around.

It will be interesting to see just how it plays out. In 1979 the solar eclipse didn't garner near as much hoopla but there wasn't the internet then. We journeyed out to a small town in eastern Washington and there was a buzz and lots of curiosity seekers but no talk of gridlock, no water, etc. This time there seems to be more awareness so maybe it will be a mess. I still am thinking the troubles are being over blown... I hope I'm right because I am one of the folks taking to the road.

How can you tell what shade number your welding helmet is? #13 is recommended according to what I have read.

Have to consider that looking directly at a hydrogen fusion nuclear reaction is dangerous . There is only empty space , a weak magnetic field and a couple miles of air between you and it. Looking at a narrow slice of sun is worse than looking at the entire sun because there is less desire to look away.
