JD 2030 Tractor SERIAL #?

Here is an explanation of the 2030 serial number. It appears that this is a 2030. "T" is for tractor, "5" is for 2030, "H" is for Hi crop utility, "3" is for diesel, "C" is for collar shift transmission.

Well, on further research, I am confused as well. Apparently The "5" can mean a 2020 as well. The 820 and 1020 utility tractors have "4" in that position of serial number.

By the way, could you post a picture? Don't see too many hi crop utilities around this area.

I sold brand new 2030's & was employed by a JD dealer from '66-'87 & I was aware of your tractors complete serial number. Only 2030's with headlamps mounted beside fuel tank from factory were the ones built for European sales which had IIRC the "L" on the end of serial number. Your tractors last 6 numerals indicate to me there's absolutely no way it can be a 2030. Google T5H3C and I think you'll find several threads referring to a 2020.

The 2030 was made in Iowa and Germany. The 2020 was made in Iowa and Mexico.

Although Tractordata is a very informative site there is some incorrect information posted on it. Plus as I previously stated there were 2020's built for sales in N America which were built in Dubuque,Ia & 2020's built for sales in Europe which were built in Mannheim,Germany. I've never seen a 2020 built in Mexico but I'll bet they went to Spain. There are 2 different listings for 2020 in Tractordata.

059837T doesn't show up in 2030 serial number range but it does fit in 2020 serial number chart..

My guess and it's a wild guess is the serial number plate was miss-stamped. The ZERO should have been a ONE. Making it a 1973.
To my knowledge only 1530 and 2030 serial numbers ended with a T or an L. 2020 did not.

Does John Deere maintain archives that would verify this tractor's serial number and build?

Can you post the 1st part of engine serial number. The 2020 & 2030 had different size engines which will be determined by engine serial number plate.
