I'm always somewhat annoyed when you see a homemade bill board with some religious theme on private property targeted at passers by. I find it offensive. On the other hand, I acknowledge that if the message was one that I supported, it would not bother me.

NorTracNY - its not your town that does not know the difference between a chicken and a cow. Its the politicians that run your town that do not know the difference.

As we all know - a politician can never tell the difference between his a#s and a hole in the ground. Therefore - he is completely lost when it come to a chicken and a cow.

No 'code enforcement officer' just happened by to see those signs; some loser called to complain. I hope she fights, there is no way those signs are an obstruction. Usually sign ordinances are to regulate commercial business NOT private speech. I agree that they will be going after Christmas next.

You didn't read the article because if you did, you'd realize you're wrong.

Long story short, the ordiance was in place prior to the election. The woman in question is violating the ordinance, period.

If someone called it in on her, doesn't matter, she's breaking the ordinance that has been in place.

If this were a non political sign, probably wouldn't be news. Because it's a political sign, it's news.

Rejecting basic biology is very trendy with progressives these days.

Uhhm....Rejecting science is trendy with which side?

Example, who rejects:
- Evolution?
- Climate science?
- Birth control /sex education (and studies on effectiveness)?

Which side believes their idol was conceived by immaculate conception? Basic biology anyone? Or turned H2O into ethanol, and was resurrected from the dead?

The local town has a sign ordinance.

Years ago, we had a guy trying to make a living by parking a food truck at an unused business. The food truck had permission to use the lot. The mayor for some reason did not like the food truck guy. Never could figure it out because the food truck guy did NOT get involved with the VERY heated local politics. The food truck guy would use "social" media to promote his business and nothing more...

But the mayor was out to get him for some reason and went after the food truck signs. These were very little, itty bitty signs that the food truck owner put out each morning and pick up at the end of the day. They said things like, "Coffee", "Breakfast", "Lunch", etc. The Mayor sent in the sign enforcers and shut this guy down and put him out of business.

Today, at the very same parking lot, a guy selling fruits and veggies, along with a hand wash car business. Because of the way these two businesses operate the lot is a bit more cluttered than before. No big deal to me, but the lot looked neater with just the food truck.

Another food truck operates a couple miles down the road and leaves the signs up 24 hours.

What is the difference?

The mayor is no longer in office. Thank goodness. He stopped running for office.

Later,
Dan

It's just more government intrusion, big brother, 1984 bull crap.
Permit required, kiss there butt and "we" may allow it if we like it.
Private property maybe if your nice to some damned appointed bureaucrat, not even an elected official.
Definition of a bureaucrat = self procreating parasitic blood sucking leech

You have to have some way of dealing with the jerks and idiots.

No, you may not put up billboards and banners in a residential neighborhood. That's pretty universal in any city in America. There are exceptions for elections, but typically they have to be down by 3 days after the election. There is no "Permit" required, just a very simple and clear residential zone sign standard.

No, you may not play music between 10 PM and 7 AM loud enough to be heard inside someone else's house with the windows closed.

No, you may not store a month's household garbage on the back porch.

The country is full of people with no decency. They were not taught right from wrong as a child, or there is something fundamentally wrong with their minds.

The local town has a sign ordinance.

That's what people miss.

This ordinance was out prior to the sign going up. Doesn't matter what the sign says or if some code official missed it, it's violating the ordinance. Dosen't matter if it's a democrat or republican sign or any sign for that matter, it's in violation of the local code.

Don't like the local code? Take it up with your local government.

I have one neighbor, he shares the corner of where our driveway hits the main road. We are back another half mile. He put up his Trump sign on his property, which of course looks like it is mine next to my driveway. His right, his land, not my choice. But I respect his right to do so.

The twist I like to grin at is the "my land, I can do what I want" attitude. Your land? Really? Just stop paying your loocal taxes and see who "owns" the land you live on. We are nothing more than renters.

I pay $400 a month for the privilege of coming home each day.
