Carry permit. Would traffic stop make police be more cautious? yea or nay?

A call for protection shows you are in fear for your life AND it's documented that you tried to get help from the local police.

LOL.. Over the years I called them a few times for issues that had nothing to do with protection, can you understand that??? I mean are you thick or what...

I quoted you saying

"The last thing I would do is call someone to protect me so don't assume that I did, a German Shepherd will tell me what's going on and my P226 and shotgun will take of the rest if a situation comes to protect myself and my family."

YOU stated the last thing you would do is call someone to protect you because you have a dog and firearm. My point is even if you own firearms for protection, you ALWAYS call because if you end up shoointing someone for self preservation, you WANT documentation on what you did to try and avoid a deadly encounter for the inevitable investigation afterwards.

One too many beers on your end to understand that and what I was responding to?

OK, now getting back on topic, if a cop stops me on my tractor, do I have to tell him/her about my grease gun?

Sometimes you have a funny way of explaining what your thinking.. No beer here, I don't drink but thanks for assuming I do..

Thus the reason why you want protection, you need to learn to protect yourself.

As stated before, and it's been given in court, the police have no duty to protect you.

My wife however has been informed that if I'm away for work overnight, she knows the drill with the boys in the house. When the call has been made to police, no matter what circumstance, she informs them that shots have been fired and that she is armed, and that the police need to come with sirens down the driveway and when they enter the home to inform her that they are there.

Honestly, even with shots fired, I give them a 50/50 chance to make it within a reasonable amount of time, but I do hope it puts a fire under their butt.

But hey, NO ONE would ever want to break into your home would they?

So while your away someone breaks the door open your wife is sound asleep, she should fumble for the phone instead of protecting herself?? No a good idea, you need to rethink your instructions..

I said she should call the police, I didn't say in which order.

1 - My wife can hear someone get up 2 floors below us in the bedroom in the basement.
2 - LONG gravel roadway, house isn't seen from the road at all. Added security on the driveway as well.
3 - We do have a bunch of dogs that sleep on the first floor. Anyone comes around the house, one will go off which sends all of them off. Couple of the dogs most people won't have to worry about, couple others perhaps.
4 - Family knows the procedures if anyone is on the first two floors (generally won't get that far with some of the dogs to begin with).
5 - Mulitple guns secured and locked in the bedroom alone. All guns are loaded with rounds in the chamber with safety on.

So...if by slim chance anyone were to get into the house, family knows the drill. Only one way in, which is the designated kill zone if the door is opened IF the police aren't there.

Given the layout of the house and the only couple of ways to actually break in, wife will have more than enough time to have gun ready, make phone call, and wait it out. In NO case, is the family to leave the designated area until the area is secure.

I'll stand by my statement, you should always call the police to document your situation if you feel as if your life can be in danger. It will generally be brought up in a court of law on how you handled yourself.
