And remember with tractors, weight is what does the work, HP is just how fast you can get it done. All the Grand Ls except the L3560 are the same frame & more or less the same weight. So a L4760 won't be overworked doign the same job compared to a L6060. It might be a little slower, or not, depending on the traction limitations. But it won't be overworked.

CORRECTION: Reviewing specs for L4760 is see it has a Category I Three Point Hitch.
I incorrectly inferred L4760 has a Category II Three Point Hitch.

Wwi traded up the largest grand L made that Inpurchased new in 2000 for a M7040 open platform.
It really outperformed the L with 800 lbs more loader capacity, and about 500 lbs more 3 point capacity.
It was a gear drive vs HST so not as easy to use for some task.
And the M have a lot more ground clearance.
I think if you review the tourque curves the M makes more power at lower rpm.
Might be cheaper then a 6060.

I agree to look at the M models.

Whole different class of tractor.

And for working ground, HST wouldn't be my first choice.

Bigger taller front tires on the M is gonna make it ride alot nicer. It's heavier and will do more

Be sure to order optional SSQA HEAVY-DUTY ROUND BACK-BUCKET for your FEL. You will be happy for its great strength working rocks. You will beat up the standard bucket in a short while.

Consider a Bucket Spade to save your back dealing with some, not all, those rocks. The Spade mounts rigidly on H-D R-B bucket. Better inserted into ground with some subtlety, rather than brute force. This attachment does 40% of what a Backhoe will do for $400.

I have been using the Bucket Spade for six years, on two tractors, and it looks like new.

Jeff, do you have anything besides sand there?

Sand, tree roots and a rare rock.

Everything pictured here could be easily done with a bucket with tooth bar.
But 95% of what I've done with my backhoe wouldn't work with the spade shovel.
Example- 900' of water line ditch 40" deep, 700' electric line ditch 40" deep, 1100' ditch for perforated drain pipe 2' deep, digging tons sand stone out of the bank to build my road to the pole barn (Tooth bar on the bucket could barely scratch it let alone dig into it), Etc.
The spade my be handy for some things, but certainly does not do 40% of what a backhoe can do.

Id definetly go for the 6060. I rarely use all 85hp but when i do i smile instead of crying wishing i had bought more tractor. Very nice machines you have picked out. Good luck with your purchase

I was originally looking at and was stuck on the L6060. Thanks to MtViewRanch, jeff9366, LD1, and other members who talked me into the M series particularly the M7060, which is really working out well for me. Its a lot more tractor, for really not too much more in dollars.
