I'm glad it was an LEO rather than a civilian. Only because the gun haters won't try to twist it into an illegal shot. For the customers in the midst of it, I am sure every last one of them doesn't care what the profession was. I am also sure they will defend his actions.

LENEXA, KS. (KWCH) The Lenexa Police Department says they are investigating a shooting at Costco where an off-duty officer fatally shot an armed man, KCTV reports.

After a brief investigation, police learned that an off-duty police officer, who was shopping had engaged the man inside the store and fatally shot him.

Costco Firearms Policy:

Costco policy prohibits firearms to be brought into the warehouse, except in the case of authorized law enforcement officers. Animals are not permitted in Costco warehouses unless admission is required by applicable law.

What an off duty police officer can get away with & what you or I can get away with are VASTLY different.
The same laws read different.

That is because in many departments, Officers are obligated to intervene, thus their action/reactions fall under different sections of the statutes than "use of deadly force" by citizens.

In my state minimal skills are required to carry a firearm, but POST certification requires hundreds of hours in a classroom and on the range.

I am sure the off duty LEO will pay a big price for his actions but not the huge price he might have to pay if he had done nothing:/

A fair amount of raccoons around here along with deer, coyote, and bear not to mention the little critters. Can't wait for my 22LR suppressor so I can control the smaller ones with disturbing the neighbors.

actually no one is suggesting banning guns (at least in my response), nor telling anyone what or what not to shoot. maybe just a different way of looking at the world. one would hope we could have that diversity & discussion without all the vitrol....no one is coming to take away your guns, my friend
