I was going to make a rather witty comment on this but I thought I better refrain
Probably for the best, at 4' off the floor, things could get awkward.

Yep, that's me. Toilet paper flap, over the top. Can labels all facing out. Left leg first in to pants. Wife just calls me "Weird-O".

You prevert. RIGHT leg goes in pants first!

Lots of comments about money in order. My wife is very OCD about that, but I don't have the choice to be as the money is not in there long enough to be out of order. The only thing I am OCD about is my tools and my saddle. Girths must be placed just so, cinch must be looped just right over the saddle horn, reigns must be stowed just correctly. I will go to the point of fixing other peoples tack in the tack room. I never used to be that way until I worked for an old cowboy busting colts out and he made me do it that way and now I cant stand to do it differently.

Huh! I'm just lucky to get both legs in without falling down, and without getting them both in the same pants leg.

Yeah, a normal person might think that, but, no, we're talking about lining up the slots in the cover screws so there are perfectly vertical or horizontal.

Plumb should have been taken care of long before the cover screw alignment inspector shows up.... ;)
Interesting! Any switch or outlet I have ever installed never gave me that option! In fact, the Pass&Seymour cover plates actually fixed the screws in the plates to prevent dropping them!

I guess the one that stands out for me is I count stairs. Weird I know. Not sure why but I have done it for as long as I can remember.

ME TOO! and I seem to have passed it on to my 3 (now 4) year old grandaughter much to my wife's dismay.

See kid, didn't hurt a thing did it? Save what you've learned. You'll remember that old guy a long time.

Another tread reminded me of one, dates should be posted as yyyymmdd. Then things are in order.

For files, yes. For signing or hand written dates its always dd-mmm-yy or dd-mmm-yyyy. No chance of someone mixing the month and day up that way.

I insist that all plate screws be "snug" but no more. You risk cracking the plate if you try to make them vertical. Many plates are very brittle, and the "soft" ones will often pull away from the wall slightly if you over-tighten them. I can think of no good reason to "insist" that all screws be vertical. I will take function over looks any day of the week.

You know that you are quoting a guy that did this for a living right?

For the most part, all electricians know the risks of installing cover plates and yet we get them on there nice and snug and vertical without cracking the plates.

Have I ever cracked a plate? Sure, but for $.99 I'll put a new one on. It just takes the right touch.

It is common in the electrical trade to have the boss/owner dictate the vertical screw in plate install. No joke.

I can relate to this thread! Definitely agree on the screw slots, must be vertical. Same on the three way switches, I'll go out of my way and use the "other" switch if it makes things "right". I use a letter opener, can't stand it when my wife shreds an envelope open. I won't read an already read paper, though I may not notice if it's put back together the way I leave it when I'm done. My car radio has numbers in the display for the volume control. I have to have it on the increments of 5, or any even number. 27 definitely doesn't work. I'm sure there are more, just ask my wife!
