Quirky and OCD tendencies..... Anyone else have them?

Many of the things spoken of in this thread, I can relate to. I have been in the electrical field for 20+ years, and have developed an eye for astheticly pleasing, and as such, cover screws vertical if reasonable without cracking covers. I explained this theory to my employees when I had them. Neat, straight, level and plumb, organized looking work yields top dollar rates the we charged.

It is also a telltale when someone else has been messing with your boxes after you leave...
Does anybody else make little "P-Touch" labels for multi-gang switch plates?
Like this?

Hahahaha. Now, THAT is OCD overload!

Especially when you have a long word that you need centered.... you have to count the letters in the word or words, find the middle character or space, then put in each corresponding letter to the left and right of the center letter or space. Thank goodness the words aren't long enough that I have to do hyphenation and justification, too.

The idiot that wired our 1970 home certainly did not suffer from any of these tendencies. Lazy bastard. Switches in strange locations, no over head lighting in several rooms, just a switch to turn on an outlet. WTF were they thinking back then? I have since rewired abut 80% of what they did but man, they sure didn't make it easy. Almost like they built the house as they went without any real plan. Kinda like now.
No overhead light, switched outlet was the norm in the 70s. At least in tract homes.

I install my switches relative to the light position, if possible. Left switch, left light. No labels needed usually.

Agreed. Fancy homes had switched outlets for lamps. You could remove the shorting bars and have half the duplex for full time power on the other switched.

We really have it made today with lighting, I really enjoy the whiter spectrum lights.

Yes, and it sucked even then. And still does.

It definitely sucks. At least trying to work in them. I thought they were supposed to switch the top outlets and leave the bottom outlets live. They didn’t do that in the one I’m working in now. It’s completely random.
