FEL/pallet forks as scaffolding

There is no need to keep the engine running- the hydraulic system is sealed and shouldn't bleed down (unless you have a worn valve or worn seals). Even with a worn valve of worn seals, keeping the tractor running wouldn't slow down the tendency of the loader cylinders to "creep".

Thanks Erik.

I am more green to tractors than probably anyone on here, so the "simple" knowledge sharing is very useful to me.

Ditto on the platform on the truck. Much safer. I spanned across the bed with 2x4s and a 3/4" piece of plywood and was very comfortable working at 12 feet. My old truck was a F-350 and was tall to begin with.

I don't have pictures, but to trim the edges of dad's drive that has creeks on both side, I used my trailer. It is an over wheel deck, deck has stack pockets with 24" steel sides in them. I use it for hauling firewood. Very sturdy. I place a 14" x 12ft aluminum pick centered on the sides. Strap it down, and stand on the ends trimming trees. Moving down the drive as required. He needed to get his fifth wheel in and out without trees dragging along the top. Jon

I can't possibly be the first think of this, so I am looking to see if ya'll have found a good platform to use when using your pallet forks as scaffolding.

I will be insulating and putting plywood up for my ceiling in my barn and was about to find some scaffold to buy until I realized I could just use the tractor. The ceiling is only 14'.

I would likely put a ladder next to the forks to get up and down should I not have someone around to lower /raise the fel.

Thoughts?

E, I used two sets of rented scaffold from Pro Source Rental in Gaylord a year or two ago to insulate my ceiling in the pole barn. Price was reasonable. I also got one set of casters to move it around on the concrete floor. I think the wheels would also work on packed dirt. PM me if you need more info. Good Luck. Jon

It happens all the time around here, of course my loader, it's hoses ect. are quality built, not some cheapo made who knows where, of unknown quality, imported from ? . Those things were important to me, back when I was looking for a loader to buy,

The box is "locked in" by the grapple,

It's just another thing pallet forks with a matching grapple will do that a dedicated grapple won't...

This combo has been a HUGE asset to getting things done around here,

I feel completely safe doing this with "my" loader, but I wouldn't in some of the loaders I see made today.

So, YOU have to make you own choice...

My tractor is my best helper!
I needed the ladder just a little higher for the siding.
And how I hung a $1000.00 12' X 12' roll up door using a storage rack that I had.
