Go down the page to the place where you post a reply.
The bottom row of icons includes "Go Advanced", click on that.
In the top row of icons, left end, is an icon with an "A" in it and the icon is blue, click on that to turn off the blue.
Now place your cursor wherever you want the pic to appear.
Second row of icons, sixth from the right end is a square picture icon with black dots at each corner, "insert image", click on that.
A window will open allowing you to choose your source, "computer" or "URL". I use computer and click on that.
Lower in that window is a "Browse" icon, click on that.
A window will open with choices in regards to the computer stored location of the pic you want to insert, find that pic, click on it, then click on "open" down in the lower right corner of the window.
You will be back at the first window where you selected browse. Now click on "upload" in that window.
Your pic will appear wherever you placed your cursor.
If you want it to post in a larger size double click on the pic.
A window will appear allowing you to choose a size, I use "full size".
Click on whichever size you desire then click "ok". Your pic will appear where you placed it and in the size you chose.

Easy as Turkey Pie.

20171214_081755.jpg My 93-94 Ford 1715 with 60' Rhino box scraper.
I purchased this tractor in July along with a 917L flail, a brush hog, and the attached scraper. I have been using it regularly for all sorts of stuff. Mowed 6 overgrown acres, graded a parking area, hauled out 8 yards of dirt, brought in 6 yards of gravel, sand, pavers and wall block. Dug out and graded a walkway.
I'm I'm my late 60s, some of this work would have taken me a whole lot longer without the tractor, most couldn't have been done with out it. So far, even though it cost me more than I expected to pay, it has been well worth it.

Bought this 1987 Ford 1120 3 cylinder diesel. Was a bit neglected. Been working getting it back in shape. Changed hydraulic fluid, oil, filters (hyd, oil, fuel), replaced fuel lines, brakes, axle bearings & seals on both axles, adjusted valves. Replaced PTO seal, cleaned & greased seal rails, painted seat back, wheels, engine shroud screens, buffed engine shroud, repaired lights & flashers...

Hour meter says 1250 but I think it’s been replaced. Too much wear for 1250 hrs IMHO.

The 8000 is a 68 model with in excess of 20,000 hours, the T6050 only has about 5000;

Examples like your 8000 bring up an interesting debate. Very common to see tractors in that category with similar hours.

Move to today's Compacts and Utility tractors. Potential buyers of used tractors would hesitate to buy one with 3000 hrs let alone 20000.

Wonder why that is?
I would say that a lot of it is the expected performance,
that 8000 is a slow turning 401 cubic inch engine, a simple 4 speed transmission with a high low range box, minimal hydraulic capacity, ours doesn't even have the dual power, total mechanical engine not even a key switch stop you have to pull the fuel stop, it was not a good starter in the winter even plugged in. When it was new a hundred horse tractor was a big machine. Very few creature comforts.
A great many tractors from the late 60's to late 70's where built for s simple durable life style. Heavy cast housings, transmissions and final drives that could easily handle twice the power being feed to them.

Lou, it's my theory that your last sentence describes their success and longevity. They were overbuilt. And they rarely operated at 100% capacity. In today's attempt to minimize production costs and increase profit margins that "cushion" is missing. I expect my Kubota to perform tasks regularly that are at or near it's capacity. In our attempt to do more with less we have put the longevity of our modern tractors at risk.

I do not think this theory is as applicable in the large AG class tractors. But it's common practice in the Utility class and smaller.

I also agree with you concerning simplicity. My 1984 Ford 3910 is built with that theory. I recently purchased a 1984 Ford 555A TLB. It's the same.

even the modern large ag tractors are not built for the longevity, when I look at the NH 6050 or worse the fancy IH Puma 135 with it's full array of electronics that has given problems with pinched wires and intermediate problems. From what I have seen the last tractors built that will last are the IH Magnum series ( I am partial to IH as that's what I'm most experienced with)
with the full mechanical power shifts, the decent cummins, good hydraulics, good cabs they will last but not without some repairs that are more involved then the older simple gear tractors.
The newer equipment with the sophisticated electronics simply will not be able to run and be maintained for 40-60 years. Many of todays tractors are built too light for the work they can and are expected to do. Case in point we just had to replace the front wheel bearings in the 6050, fun job not very difficult but pulling the planetary apart in a field to limp it home to finish the repairs, looking at the design and build it is does not have the maximum durability as some of the older equipment, bearing size and spacing. If you have looked or ran some of the most modern tractors with the new CVT's and complete electronic and computer controls with CAN bus networks requiring software to diagnose and repair which is not available to the individual at this time. They are great when they work but I can't imagine going into a new CVT to change a gear when it goes. I enjoy how nice they operate, I dread the repair potential.
