Rounded off drain plug

Guess I'll poke the bear. Took longer to drag the welder over and set it up, then it did to get this one out. Total time for removal was 5 minutes. With impact and socket. Easy breezy. Even got some special effects in the last picture :cool2:

That repair shouldn't count, the OP does not have a welder.

Some wonder how plugs get so tight. Read some of the comments on here, and I'm sure some of the posters have some sarcastic humor in their statements...but there are folks who come to the internet looking for "how to" advise. They come to a tractor forum thinking "those guys" know mechanical things.

Then they read something stated as humor and believe it. Maybe posters who post BS should at least have a funny face by it!

I always start the engine up after the oil stops dripping and let it run for 30 seconds, to make sure that all of the old oil is out so that I don't contaminate the new lube.

I hope you are joking.

I have been known to disable the start and crank an engine till it has oil pressure after a change.
And if an engine has sat for the winter or summer I will usually crank them before I will start them.

Many don't realize that an engine will run for quite a time with no oil. For those that go back aways and into drag racing: I remember a race between Grumpy Jenkins and Don Nicholson. These were called "Grudge Races".Grumpy had a 10 second 67 Camaro and Don was driving a 65 Comet . For the last race, Jenkins drained all the fluids out of his car as he thought "Dyno Don was sandbagging as he kept beating him two to three cars before the "money race". Grumpy beat him by half a car for the last race and ran the fastest ET of the two cars that afternoon. Of course lunched he the engine but didn't care.

I meant that as a tongue in cheek comment, of course. I have heard of Yamaha MC's which have intentionally been run without oil and suffered other abuses at Harley parties though, and they apparently will go for quite a while. One party that I know of they actually burned it to kill it, then somehow got it up on top of a utility pole where it stayed until the next party.

Why stop at 30 seconds. The more the better, take it out and get some work done while you are at it. :knockout:

(I know you were joking but could not resist)

Over the years I have seen a number of people that have aftermarket added "oil pressure pre-start" pumps. Before you start the vehicle, an electric pump pre-pressures the engine with oil so you never have a so-called dry start.
