Brillion Hub and Bearings

I remember, the bearings for that are in a cage type arrangement. You can check price and parts manuals online at Messicks just by signing in. Pricing would help you out in making decisions. I like the idea of the whole kit but that's just me since I think you will also need the felt washers. Yours has a lot of slop and you won't know what it's like till you take it apart. Get to the Messicks parts manuals and when you sing in, all the prices are right there.

Do you have any insight as to how to go about getting the right size bearing? I'm pretty sure I know what Brillion part number I need but messicks wan't over $100 for it where if I knew the specs I think I could get an after market for <$15.

It's a pretty strange looking bearing so I don't know other than OEM. I recall trying years ago but not being successful. It's not your typical roller bearing so it will be difficult to match. I think there must be something out there because I have found most common Brillion items to be off the shelf items. Thinking that way it would likely be something common from the 1950's or 1960's. We called them "squirrel cage" bearings so maybe that's a start.

Here's the video where the guy finds an aftermarket bearing.

I cut and pasted the clip and it opened for me

That is a great video and if you can get aftermarket bearings for $13, go for it. The best news is that he gave the bearing diameter so that narrows things down a lot. It never occurred to me to look on youtube.

The bearing number he gave in the video was 1c087

Needle roller and cages start on page 56 http://www.skf.com/binary/30-241905/06003_2-EN-Needle-roller-bearings_Lowres.pdf You need the inner and outer diameters plus width to get an SKF designation number, plug that number into google/ebay and see who will sell it cheapest. For that application, I wouldn't feel bad swapping in a drawn cup needle roller (page 75)
