Again.

Experience is something you get right after you need it.
Well said. At the rate I'm going, I expect to be a genius any day now.

The smart money is to replace. Trying to repair will probably cost more than a new one. AS this is a balanced set situation it is highly advisable to replace both at the same time unless exact replacement is available (like OEM the most expensive route). Surplus center will probably have 2 for the price of one at the Dealers.

Messicks for a elite member it would be nice if you helped instead of pouring salt in wound.Operative word was kid did it when I was laid up with knee replacement. It's easy to tell someone to do something it' hard to tell them everything not to do .Replies like Joecdeere providing helpful information instead of sarcasm is very much appreciated.Especially when I called your shop and you could not tell me how to tell the difference between the Schwartz and Ognibene cylinder.Maybe you should hire him.Now that's sarcasm. Thanks Joecdeere I'll have to check that out when I could hobble out there.:drink:

It happens. I knew a guy that snapped both of his off when trying to lift a hemlock log onto a trailer with a set of forks. He had plenty of experience, it was just too big of a log, but then he had lifted big logs in the past. The only equipment that does not break is one that is parked, and that makes no sense.

Surplus Center is your best bet.

I don't think Messick was pouring salt in the wound. I really think he was trying to lighten it up with some humor. Sometimes when we read written things and can't see the smirk on the other end, it can be misconstrued. I do believe this is one of those cases.

The good new is that reading this thread, I learned something new. Don't back drag with bucket curled down. This is helpful. Thanks for sharing.

You indicate the "kid" had 8 years of experience. So someone points out some basic rules of using a loader on a tractor, and it's considered pouring salt on a wound because you didn't follow the rules?

Kind of like when someone mentions carrying a youngster on a riding mower while mowing is dangerous. The typical response is "It's none of your business."

I snapped both loader rams on a John Deere a few years ago. I had a full bucket raised fairly high, hit a bump and "Snap". Lower the bucket before racing down the trail! That cost me $1100.
