That is a really good price. The 210 with the dual voltage is also a good price. Is it worth spending the extra money for dual voltage though? Is it that useful? Also, is Hobart a pretty good brand? Of what I read it is.

Hobart is the store brand of Miller, I understand they're pretty good. As far as dual voltage, if you always weld where 220 is available you probably don't need it. I have dual voltage on my inverter stick and haven't tried it on 110 yet.

I have had a Hobart handler 140 for several years now and seems to work OK. Mostly run FCAW but do switch to Mig for special cases where I am working with extra thin material in the shop. Picked up a Hobart Stickmate 160i a few weeks ago for a larger welding job, that I could of done with the 140 but would of pushed it to its limits both in performance and duty cycle. Most of my welding work is old metal that is hard to get really clean enough to weld properly (old lawnmower decks) so I have mixed performance depending on how good the base metal is. Going to play with some 1/16" 6011's one of these days and see how they work with the stickmate.

If price is very important I've only read good reviews about Hobart Refurbs
, they have the 190 for $530, but it's out of stock. If you can wait get on their mail list.

I want dual voltage for flexibility. I've an Everlast Powerarc 300 which I got on the Amazon sale for about $270. I want something I can easily tote around for small repairs.

I'm looking at the Everlast Power I-mig 200E, on sale for $550. But I'm confused over the literature on it for at the Everlast web site Power i-MIG 2E - MIG Welders | Everlast Generators there's only a small mention of it being dual voltage and none of flux core. Hopefully Mark will get back to me.

I know nothing about that welder, but welded the neighbors broken shackle on his trailer last night on 120v at the end of a hundred foot extension cord. 1/8" 7018 upside down no problem. So yes, dual voltage comes in handy...

I cannot answer your question about the relative utility value of the Hobart Handler 210 dual voltage machine.
Hobart welders all do consistently get five star reviews.
I bought the (240V only) Hobart Handler 190 (new) because I wanted a 240V transformer type welder. For better portability, I also have an Everlast Power i-MIG 140e (120V).

Everlast PA200ST. I am sure there are other machines that could do it also. I am very happy with this one though.

It is possible to make your Transformer Mig welders do Tig. Scratch start. I used to sell a lot of the little 115v Lincolns for that just prior to the DC Tig/Stick low cost inverter craze.
