Looking at 40-ish HP options

   / Looking at 40-ish HP options #41
I looked at a L4701 with folded ROPS this past week and I'm pretty sure ii will fit in a standard 7' garage.

The Grand Lエs are taller.

My L3560 with R4/industrial tires is 87" from ground to FOLD in ROPS.

Re: Kubota L4701 Folded ROPS Height?

Will a Kubota L4701 owner kindly post distance from ground to ROPS fold?

I need to know minimum garage door height required for entrance.

Please also report tire type, R1/R4, etc.

GATOR: 2015 L4701 HST, R4's, measured 74" from dirt floor of my barn.

Appreciate the info, been talking to a few more dealers and nailing stuff down a little more.

After thinking about it a bit more I think we may go with the L4760. 40HP PTO gives us a bit more options with implements and doing a small amount of haying if we can find a cheap baler down the road.

Current spec is:
L4760 ROPS
LA1055 loader
R1 ag tires
HD bucket (not included in quotes below)
42" forks

I've got 4 quotes from dealers ranging from 33.7k, 33.8k, 34.5k and 36.1k. The second quote will do delivery for free, even though we're ~2 hours away from them so that's where we're leaning.

One thing that's interesting talking with dealers is that almost no one stocks the Grand Ls, those that do only stock the cab version. According to two dealers there isn't a single Grand L open station on the west side of washington right now. So I'm probably going to have to order one sight unseen. I'm not opposed to that as I've done a ton of research and it seems to match our needs well but would be good to get eyes on one first.

The other thing all of them mention is it's going to be a 4-8 week wait since things are pretty nuts right now. Lots of tractors selling out fast, from sounds of it people are looking to get equipment before tariff prices start kicking in. One dealer I talked to said he's putting in an order of 35 tractors tomorrow just to keep something on his lot.

I'd like to get remotes but the $800-1400 cost is steep and I don't have any attachments that use them right now, am I going to regret having to drag the tractor in to the dealer if I want to add them at a later point?

Yes, you will regret it. Especially if you get from the dealer 2 hours away and it won't be free to send back to them and then back to you or if you have to spend 8 hours driving total to drop off/come home and then pick up/come home. Your time is money. If you order the tractor with the remotes then the assembly plant in Georgia will put them in. List price is $1445 to put them in on Kubota site. Could be more for the dealer. I am getting all extra options on my tractor installed up front before delivery.

So nearest dealer is 20mins and 1hr respectively, it just happens the 2hr dealer is willing to drive all the way out and has a good price.

If you are paying cash it will hit you out of pocket now so understandable for you to hesitate. If you are financing at 0% promo rate then it will amortize out at a little higher payment per month. If you are financing - don't forget to get the cost of the KTAC Insurance. I opted for CNH's insurance which was then rolled into my financing (had to resign paperwork last week for that) and changed my payment.

Did you try to get the closest dealer to price match the best price? If they are known for good service and being a good dealer, give them a chance to match the better price which will make it easier for you and they still get the sale. If they won't play ball, then get the best price but they may be prissy when you need service later (they shouldn't be if it means losing you for any sales in the future) No need for you to pay more just because you are afraid of asking your local dealer to come down in price. If they're smart they will match your best price. Once they sell you a tractor you will be coming back to them for attachments, for service, for parts - you get the idea. The owner of my company always get mad at me because I refuse to ship items direct to my contractor customers. He thinks if we touch something it costs him labor money but I know better - I make the customer come to the store to pick up - I WANT them at my counter - it gives me more opportunity to interact with them, strengthen the business relationship, and they almost always buy something else while they are there to pick up their other item. The same will apply to your local dealer - give them a shot at matching the price.

I would say sooner or later you'll regret not having the rear remotes. Might also consider a 3rd function on the FEL for the same reason. Make it as versatile as you can right out of the box.

Yeah, I tried to get them to match and they couldn't come within 2k of the other places. I think they mostly sell B/BX/mowers and so grand l isn't something they're keen on. I mentioned other prices dealers we're giving and he said he couldn't come close.

I think you will be very happy with that tractor. I certainly would.

Well, sucks for him then. He might not be set up to work on larger equipment as well hence the reluctance although it would be handy if that dealer can service the tractor (if they have a good service dept). I'm pretty ruthless anymore when it comes to price. It's a large dollar purchase so I expect to get the best deal I can for what I'm getting. I want to keep as much of my money as I can. I had 9 dealers compete for my business for the Mazda CX-5 my wife got last December and I bought it from a Mazda dealer 2 hours away from us that destroyed the others on price. We still take it to the dealer 1 hour away that we bought the last 2 Mazda's from for service though (their service manager is awesome).
