It has AC, in fact it blows really cold  It just doesn't have climate control where you set a temp and it modulates accordingly. I find my self constantly bumping the manual control up or down on long drives.

I do that anyway. I tend to use maximum cold setting and adjust the fan speed accordingly.

Me too. My first car with AC was a 1973 Datsun 1200 with an add-on ARE system the best I remember. It actually had a thermostat that kicked the AC compressor off and own. I was using it a lot because after getting out the Navy I started to college in Abilene TX so it was a long and sometimes hot haul from KY. To save the power for the wheels I got in the habit of turning the Temp to Min when going up hills and to Max when starting back down. :)

This 2010 F150 we just picked up the AC is only blowing hot air on the driver side. At least it is cold for the wife who was a bit hot over me buying yet another vehicle. :)

Amazon shipped the $26 fix last week but I am not looking forward to installing it but at least it seems to doable without removing the dash per youTube.

It is issues like these that make these fancy trucks cheap before their time because it is $1000+ job at the dealers I read. I am going to replace the one for the passager's side too since it is the easy one and hope these Ford improved door motors are actually an improvement.

In cases like this I wish for the old sliding cables to open doors in the dash. :)

A former coworker refused to run AC OR open his windows because it would hurt his gas mileage. I saw him one hot day after work heading for a long trip downstate in his little 2WD Nissan pickup with his windows rolled up, no shirt, and even from a distance could see that he was covered in sweat.
He's probably a billionaire now.

My wife sorta does that too and it drives me crazy. She doesn't set to Max Cold (or Hot in the winter), just, say 68° and then manually adjusts the fan. It's always to hot or cold and she keeps adjusting the fan rather than letting the computer just do it for her. And she doesn't want me to touch her controls... The other day it was uncomfortably warm even though it was set at 68° so I asked if we could cool it down. She said Sure but didn't do anything, so I pressed the Auto button since 68° would be plenty cool if that's what it actually was. 30 seconds later, when it wasn't "cool" yet, she cranked the fan up to max.

Granted, not all auto climate controls work all that well, but most fairly modern vehicles I've driven work pretty acceptably. The one on my '15 Ram works great.

That's funny. I have a friend who drives his vehicles with the A/C on in hot weather, but insists on keeping the system on recirculate all the time. Even after the air has gone stale inside from occupants breathing.

There was an interesting article in Motor Trend recently that discussed air quality inside vehicles today. Tests have shown that modern vehicles, which are sealed quite well, can have high CO2 levels inside in as little as 25 minutes with one occupant. That is with the air controls on recirculate. For 2 occupants, it is half that time. High CO2 causes drowsiness and higher risks of a crash. Some new vehicles will have CO2 monitors as a result.

Ya can't trust those vehicle owners with control of their HVAC systems!

Good catch. CA did not require smog inspections for diesel PUs and cars until something like 15 years ago. If
your vehicle is older than 1997 model year, then no inspection required. CA still has no smog inspection for
motorcycles, which is surprising considering CA is the world leader in emissions regulations.

This is from memory, so others are welcome to peruse the ordinances and correct me on any details I got
wrong.

The provincial govt that Ontario Canada just got rid of struck me as trying to out-Cali Cali, when it came to appearing green.

Ontario goes back to 1988 for testing, gas and AFAIK diesel.

If Work pays the bills on repair it won't matter to you, but I picked up this wisdom from a pro-wrench friend of mine...

If you have AutoTemp control, and plan to keep the vehicle a long time, take it off auto, and set temperature manually. Constantly adjusting that blend door in Auto mode, usually leads to the door/linkage breaking over time.

My friend made good coin off of people who used Auto mode..... lots of hours involved yanking a dash to ReRe one small blend door...... of course, while you're in there, you don't just change one actuator, but all of them. Labour is the (relatively) expensive portion of the bill....

Another good example of why I don't like added complexity in most systems, when owning beyond the 100% covered warranty period....

I always liked the Tshirt "Go Lemmings, GO"......

I used to work near the main Toronto airport. Stayed later at the office, clearing stuff up one night, instead of sitting in traffic. Left late, the main highway was virtually deserted - crappy, stormy, late-Fall cold and rainy evening. I passed (2 lanes over) a very slow moving, very late model high-end BMW (7 or 8 series) - the car windows looked like a humid greenhouse, with all the moisture running down the INSIDE of the windows.

Cold damp weather up here (and throughout Winter), some people use ReCirc when they definitely shouldn't.

Though.... to be fair to the Bimmer driver, they might have known exactly what they wanted to do, but had not yet taken the 3 week course needed to run the iDrive interface

(Sorry about drift OP..... but it connects in my mind in terms of needless complexity causing collateral problems....).

I rarely drive anything with the windows completely shut. But, I don't drive the SouthWest.....

I was leaving work and saw this, I just laughed.

It’s a contractors 2015 or newer F150 XL single cab 8ft bed 2wd (no 4x4 graphics) next to my 95 F350 XL dually flatbed single cab 9ft bed. My hood is a hair lower than the F150 and bottom of windows are about equal.

I don't doubt it's a 2wd truck, not all trucks had the 4x4 decal on them. My dad had a 99 F150 XLT that was 4x4 but lacked the decals.
