Also there are no zerks on the tractor itself... only the loader/backhoe

Oil color tells you next to nothing. Oil analysis is the only reliable way to know for sure.

Always a good idea to check what ever oil cooling system is present (oil to air radiator or fan on the hydro unit itself). Keep these areas clean of debris.

I disagree, Oil color tells you it’s dirty, it tells you if you have water. That is all I need to know, it isn’t a jet engine. I don’t need to know a bearing is wearing....

It looked like what was coming out of mine was clear also until I pulled the bucket out from under the tractor and seen it in the bottom of a perfectly clean white bucket.

In this image from machinery lubrication I would say my hydro fluid was either right at the third bottle or slightly less. The issue with trying to judge from those bottle is no way to tell how much those hold or what kind of light is behind them. Certainly wasn't black....
