We sure have a lot of retirees coming to Oklahoma. In the last 50 years, the population has increased from about 1 million to 4 million.

OK is 40

Maryland has some really nice areas. DC suburbs and Baltimore? No. But other areas can be very nice and rural.

Yes it does, but high cost and high taxes.

Good friends of my parents lived in Los Angeles and decided to retire to Oklahoma. After a couple of years they moved back ... gasp ... to California. Not sure how you "score" that one.

Home is where you make it. I have traveled this country up, down, sideways, and seen it all. Lot's of places I would never live, lot's I think could be nice, but it all comes down to where you "feel" the best.

seems like out of the country places are getting much more popular as well. I have no desire to live in another one but i read about it in the finance sections all the time.

The last column is about how you like it where you are. High taxes and high cost to live are so much hand in hand, it ptobably skews the results.

Where you live in the state obviously matters also. I hated living down in the city area, but like it out in the country. Very pretty here, relatively low crime, nice neighborhoods, good schools. But not where i used to live. Taxes are high, cost of living still high.

Still an interesting list, as i consider retirement in a few yrs.
