Looking great Richard! 2x6 stick built on a footing is exactly how I did my barn addition as well. Coming along nicely

Thanks Tim. I feel so inadequate watching these guys. Day four for the carpenters and they are putting on metal.

Probably just the color in the photo, but the bottom plate and bottom purlin don't appear to be pressure treated on the short section between big doors. I see a short piece of treated at bottom of door framing, but don't see color difference on the bottom plate I expected. No worries, I wrote a check for my shop and got a poorly built building that reminds me of my less than desired results every time I look at it or go out to it.

I really like your build, it is the right way..

Man you have some good timber going in this barn ! I am curious though why your slab floor is so close to grade level, at least thats the way it looks to be ? Did you consider building a 6" curb to put your walls on so if you want to wash out the shop floor it doesn't get the bottom sill area wet, plus it gets the outside walls up further from the ground ?

Every inch of the sill plate is treated. As you know, moisture content determines color. :)

That thought never entered my mind. Finish grade will leave a couple inches of concrete exposed with appropriate slope to support drainage.

Are you planning any type of coating on the floor? I’ve yet to do anything to my floor yet, but should in the next month, looking at H&C industrial clear.

Yeah, I think I'll seal it after construction is done
Not sure what to use. Have to educate myself. Open to any ideas or suggestions.

Gonna try sething unique with the house build. We'll talk avout that when that thread starts. :)

I am in that thought process as well. I started a thread a few days ago...
Concrete penetrating sealer. Some good links posted. I don't want anything acrylic. You are suppose to 30 days before sealing freshly poured concrete.

I used J25 Sealer on my shop floor-very happy, so far, with look and durability

There is so many products available ! You have to determine what you want the product to do then match that product with a manufacture. I made a thread a few days ago...
