Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cold, snowy winter.

Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a warm, wet winter.

Yea - well, Oosik predicts - - another strange winter, like none we have seen in the last thirty years. There is just no seasonal consistency to the weather any more.

My forecast is that December, January and February will be considerably cooler than June, July and August with a far greater chance of frost, ice and snow. There will be the periodic warming spells and some chance of Thunderstorms in some areas, but not all. (SoCal and regions of the desert southwest excluded).

Probably more accurate than our local forcasters!

I hope that you are tight. 90' is bad enough in August, I really would prefer not to see it in January.

@TnAndy

Awesome set up.....what used to be the norm now people call preppers or more disparaging names.
But it's good to see others ready for the unforeseen.
Here in hurricane country my co-workers would hound me for having basic food, gas etc.
Yet many of us lived within a few miles and we evacuated many times over the years still they didn't get it.....Hmm
Guess..welcome to humanity lol...

well done.....

LOL:, well I think there will be snow. how much we'll know come spring.
It'll be cold and occasionally wet, tractor will not want to start.
EL nino and EL nina will fight to decide who's right or wrong.
The farmer's almanac will try to convince U that they know better than the multi $$ national weather system.
But all being said it will be cold and white will replacing green.

Naturally you all know that a forecaster knows not his azz from his elbow hence he rolls up his sleeves when he takes a dump.

TnAndy; I'm nowhere near as prepared as you but I like to go into the winter with at least 6 weeks worth of canned goods and other nonperishables; as well as plenty of firewood.(In spring the stockpiled nonperishables go to the Postal Service food drive.) I can run up to the spring for water, and while my power rarely goes off, worst case scenario when both my generators ran out of gas or quit I would start processing the thawing goods through the pressure cooker.
I really like your greenhouse setup.

Hey Andy

Would you mind sharing more about your root cellar? Looks like a pored ceiling, so it is a buried separate root cellar, or is it just a room in your basement?

Also, if you happen to have any, would you share a closer pic of one of your potato racks? Looks like a good simple design.

Glad there are those out there that are prepared and won't be in a FEMA camp or otherwise hoping for the knock on the door "I'm from the Federal government and I'm here to help"
