What do you folks think about this coming Winter?

Snow sounds great compared to all the hot muggy humidity and rain we had this summer. The lakes and rivers have been on no-wake restrictions and are plagued with blue-green algea. The mosquitoes are worse than we can remember so let it freeze baby!

I start in the spring picking up branches, waiting for steady 40s, then 50s, then 60s. Then fertilize the lawn and blueberry bushes, then start spraying apple trees. Summer at my house is routine, I do just enough to endure the heat. Then apple harvest comes and I just enjoy the fall. I then do equipment maintenance and get it ready for snow removal or storage. Winter is beautiful in Maine and I enjoy it. In March, my wife and I go somewhere for a few weeks or so. Sometimes Europe, sometimes Phoenix, sometimes just drive around the USA. This winter is forecast to be cold and snowy. So bring it on. The mosquitos and black flys will not bother me from October through April.

We tend not to pay much attention to the winter predictions since we get good snow, either way.

Based on the number of foggy August morning I was told to expect a lot of snow this winter. In our end of KY it is all about Jet Steam and where it is 20 miles north or south of our place on the KY/TN border.

We are way overdue for a good ole winter storm....something like 60" of snow with 60mph winds for a week.

TNADNY, my brother has a setup like yours, he raises his own beef, pigs and chickens, he doesn't buy much from a store, his greenhouse is huge..

My wife and I were talking about that today. We have somewhere around 4 inches of rain in the past week which would equal about 40 inches of snow. Feel like I should get my overalls out and find my winter Muck boots. :laughing:
