Compact telehandler

Glad you’re okay after that ride.

I didn't know it until two days after that my right thigh got bruised bad when it hit the throttle T handle. Seatbelts now for loading and unloading.

Our old machines hydraulic lines are sketchy. I sure would not want to be in an airplane with old hydraulic lines. It would be thousands of dollars changing out lines on an old machine.
We just have to be careful.

Lines (hard) are a "remove on condition" part of the airplane. Hoses are a different matter. Aircraft hoses never see the light of day or weather like our ex's hoses.

How do you like your Komatsu?

Komastsu is built very well. Had a lot of computer stuff for 1997! Must have been state of art when new. When the electronics, proximity switches , etc went, It became manual.
I like to offset boom, blade & Hyd. thumb, and being zero swing it goes in the woods where it really should not venture.

Not the strongest machine in the world.
Boom lift and Bucket breakout are average for size. Dipper and brute tractive drawbar just a little weak, but not horrible but the swing torque is just weak, say compared to a BobCat, Hitachi, or Takeuchi. I guess Cats are about the same but have more swing torque.
For a worn out machine , it is smooth to operate.
Moved a lot of rock, & built lots of walls.
I know your Mahindra is bigger than my little but stout L39, so I'm impressed you were able to get your old CAT back right side up wit the big red one.

I do use my tractors more than the excavator now, as our place is +90% established. A wall came down, I should be out on it now. Excavators are handy.

If I were rich I have the subject of this thread as another toy, i.e. Compact telehandler or a MECALAC 1 MCR - YouTube! Gee and a big skid steer, Dozer, Dump truck, Trailers, Etc.

Little but stout. I rented a L39 loader backhoe before and that description fits.

I lucked out on the lift,....having the tracks in the ditch and the boom up on the bank. The Mahindra's loader will lift 3900 pounds to 13 something feet, so physics and terrain helped in up righting the CAT. She only weighs 14,500 pounds. How much does your Komatsu weigh?

Near as I can figure 17,500Lbs with Blade, thumb, and steel tracks.

Hi Brandi,

Also glad you're OK, and sounds like it was a cheap and relatively easy way to get that lesson learned!

Thanks for the details, and cautionary tale- hopefully some of can learn vicariously from it.

A recent project, moving a spare parts Groundsmaster from the shop to the shed.

The pallet rack in the shed. Hard to believe, but I never got it filled up. :D
