Wng, I have never experienced a tornado, imagine it must be quite scary when you know one is coming your way. How long do you generally have to wait it out in your shelter ?

Ex-hurricane Helene is having a minor temper tantrum here this morning, buffeting everything outside with winds from the south, although nothing in comparison to what others have experienced. Not too bad as long as I keep away from the woods - especially now the tree tops could be full of overweight badgers, testing out their new found climbing skills and looking for where I've hidden the peanuts

Warm damp morning, green mold growing like mad on white fencing in shady areas, on the schedule to all get powerwashed next month.
Until then, my neighbor's powerwashing business should be even busier, lot of homes down by the River that need all the gunk hosed out of first floors. With the contents of how many pig farms in it...big issues with storm related hog manure lagoons here.
Can't imagine a river of that coming down my road.

Until they design a pig that doesn't poop, hurricanes in pig land can be ecological disasters.
I wonder how long e coli can live on a damp surface?

75 going to 82 and more rain likely.

12 tornadoes reported around central Virginia yesterday. One person was killed. Schools stayed in lockdown for shelter in place for 2 or 3 hours past dismissal time. Worried parents, I'm sure. Only one warning that covered my part of the county. I took Coco, an emergency radio, and cell phone into the crawl space (wife is down in NC). We stay there until the tornado warning passes by or is cancelled, watching weather radar on the cell phone. Have had to do this several times over the years: nearest tornado we've ever had hit about a half mile away...another that was 1.5 miles away killed a young mother and her infant as it blew their house away.

Don, looks like a lot of interesting clubs.

Eric, hope Helene behaves. We have acorns falling in our woods now...no badgers.

Rivers are still rising in NC...about 200 miles of I-95 and I-40 as well as some alternate routes are closed.

My friends who went to Richmond from Wilmington to escape the storm
said they saw a real tornado go by and others were in the area.

If I ever got the time, I'd like to build a small concrete block safety area in the corner of my garage.
Tornadoes are just plain bad news.

63F steady rain low 80's for high.
Couple more hours rain maybe half inch when all send and done from that nasty storm,couple chances late afternoon showers.

If temps are cooler less humidity after work might trim around spruce trees.
E muffin feed little critters slow roll to work.

I get that occasionally when I hit the wrong key/s on keyboard. Nice thing about using a PC is that in lower right corner of the message box there is a small box that says "Restore Auto-Saved Content". It works every time when I make a keyboard mistake.
No luck with iPhone and iPad. But I have never lost a post with them.

Good morning! 70 to 90s today lots of sun. Looks like a bike ride morning to explore the neighborhood and drive down the streets I have not seen. This neighborhood is very active starting at sunrise with walkers, joggers, bikes, golf carts, dog walkers, and golfers.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 61° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 84° with partly cloudy skies. Yesterday ended up with not getting much done. Other than talking to doctors about upcoming surgery. Thought I would get a Dentist appointment before to fix a tooth. But, no. No dental work allowed 1 month before or 3 months after surgery where they put hardware in you. Maybe I should be happy. I do not like going to the Dentist. Today I am going to spend some time getting garden pond ready for leaves to start falling.

Drew, I feel your pain with blocked Vac Hose. I disconnect mine on both ends and put inlet end on vacuum end. Then start vacuum motor. So far it has worked for me. Monster Tape? Similar to Gorilla Tape?

I just cleared a clogged shop vac hose by running a long sliver of wood thru it. Broom handle was too short. Now that i think of it, a small stick of pvc or copper pipe would have worked, i have that laying around.


Just went to edit this post, it asked if i wanted to use my unsaved post. I answered yes, and there was part of my post from last night that got lost. However, this post that i was trying to edit wasnt there to edit. So i canceled out, editted this post again, and got this post. Weird.

We got a few spotty showers and might get an afternoon thunderstorm from Florence, that and a few showers and some breezes last week when moved in, is all we got. I need to call my brother in Elizabeth City to see how he made out. I hope all of you affected recover quickly.

Not much on the agenda today, need to move the Monte Carlo to the other building so I can do some work in the garage.
