There might be unique casting numbers if tractor versions have a different, more rigid block (we call 'case' in the factory) than 'industrial', tho' I suspect otherwise.

If the same block is used for tractor and industrial the difference may be in whether the balance shaft bores are 'finished'.

'Service' blocks (factory spares) might then have those bores finished to be supplied for either final assembly line or customer preference. The parts might then be added before installation. This is high-hoping, of course, but we'd want to be certain.

Is there a cover or easily removed part that would expose an existing drive gear etc that would make the shafts more easily apparent? In some auto engines a drive gear can be seen when camshaft gears are inspected/replaced. (we added balance shafts to Buick's 3800 back in the '80s)

If the model ID numbers we're given don't provide enough info, we'd have to rely on a seller's knowledge of 'whether or not' the shafts were included.

Without seeing pictures I have a hard time believing the block is ruined. My engine machinist buddy and I have saved many an engine block deemed destroyed by other "experts". I would need to see pictures of this destroyed balance shaft. The balance shaft bore can possibly be resized, alinebored, or honed and over sized bearings fitted, and or turned down from another source and fitted. With these custom fit to order deals you must know to never run your engine out of oil again. Shame you aren't closer, I would drive over and take a look with my friend. Any pictures at all?

I have been told by all of the kubota rebuilders (4 or 5) that their are no oversized bearings avaliable.

Not saying someone couldnt find a cam bearing out of something that might work??? but would probably take awhile looking at sizes.

I have pics I'll post soon, but they dont do it much justice. It didnt spin bad. But everyone I have talked to said if it spun at all....they dont want to chance it with another bearing because if it dont hold...you just ruined another engine.

But thats not even everything. The list of the rest of the parts and machine work it needs is extensive. $3500-$4000 and thats without even figuring out a possible work around with the balance bearings and what that would cost to machine yet another part of the block.

When working at an engine maker, we used many Loctite products for bearings (green). If your bore is still pretty good on size, the bearing Loctite will hold.

Just not something I am willing to bet a $4000-$5000 repair on.

I know we used 620, 640, 680, 609 bearing retainer. The engine maker I worked at was Fairbanks Morse and our engines were way more $$$ than that and some were 1000hp+ per cyl.

Crank needs ground, bores all look good except #1 which has some visual vertical lines, not really what I'd call scuffing. Kubota gives a .0007" range for the bore diameter. All cylinders measure right within the middle of that spec, measuring several places and directions
