The first winter that I had my previous pup we had lot of snow, and my neighbor's dog liked to come down my nicely plowed driveway to do his business. I got tired of it and talked to the owners, and never had another problem in all of the time that I was there. They were decent people anyhow but what I think made an impression was when I explained that my dog liked to eat stinky stuff... :(

We had a neighbor that worked night shift report to animal control that our dog as barking continuously (she was inside most of the time, only out to go potty several times a day.. we got a notice from animal control saying 1st warning (of 3), then fines. No appeal, no way to dispute. The notice said to call which we did, but no answer and no voicemail available.

Interesting. Money would be no object when it comes to mine I would sic an attorney on the County. Like yours, mine are inside most of time. That is BS.

Well, the dog pack came back and killed the second goat they had mauled last week. I missed one of them, but gave several doses of behavioral modification to a pit bull. It looked like the one I missed took off around a lake I share a portion of, and I have seen it before in the area. I will continue to look for it, and plan on doing an attitude adjustment on it when/if possible...

At least the dogs are smarter, they aren't posting this on the internet;)

As they say in Florida - " A dog's owner is not legally entitled to any money from someone who injures or kills the dog while protecting a person or farm animal from attack. Nor is the person guilty of a criminal offense; many animal cruelty laws specifically exempt the act of injuring or killing a dog in these circumstances."

The issue is you probably don't know for a fact exactly what dog did the damage. You shoot on site and it happens to be NOT the dog and the owner of the dog just happens to come across this forum, the reality is you're probably pissed off enough to shoot ANY dog you see.

If you're going to do any killing, be smarter than a 3rd grader and don't post it on the internet for the world to read.

I typed this very slow...:D

Two houses down from me 3/4 of a mile away there are two pitbulls that are always loose in the yard, NEVER have I seen them anywhere other than in the yard. There is an older gentleman that lives directly across the street from the loose pitbulls that has many animals, chickens, goats etc. It amazes me that in the three years the pitbulls have been there they never leave that yard.. The guy that owns them is a young guy that's pretty wild, burning tires, loud drinking parties etc. I think the dogs are smarter than the owner to tell you the truth..

My Shepherd would sure as heck want to investigate the noise coming from over there if he had the chance (which I will never give him)..

Since I first saw the one that got away standing over the Goats carcass INSIDE a 5 foot tall chain link fence AND the other one INSIDE a 8 foot tall chain link kennel, I feel PRETTY confident that my two college degrees and decades in the Military gave me the required insight into "exactly what dog did the damage". As the Deputy Sheriff, who lives across the Lake and has seen the animals running around stated, we got too many peoples animals getting killed and maimed to let this continue.

You're welcome, although I'm not certain what good it's going to do as I'm not the first per this thread to make the same type of comment and yet you've still gone agains't some sound advice even though you have two degrees and 10 decades in the military:thumbsup:

Sigrams From a very expensive experience you are correct.
We live in a rural area. Started to have cattle going through fences and staying in the corral . and one morning had loaded trailer behind tractor with fence material . and saw a yearling calf dead and mutilid with 2 reddish boxer dogs gut full leaving the calif . called owner about this and explained had never seen these doge before.

When he arrived .sat in his pickup explained never had seen these dogs before. and he remembered 2 new dogs at a location 1/2 mile from our place. rode with him and said yes they were the dogs. He went to door and lady said they were not her dogs but had been left by some one picked up for drugs and was in jail.

The calf owner shot at the male dog which left the area with the female. I never left the pickup.
He was charged with enough charges only a lawyer could explain. the trail and fines came to 650 dollar for shooting at a dog and his lawyer charged about the same fee.
I was charges with accessory by pointing out had seen the same dogs leaving the dead calf. it cost me trial and legal fees for lawyer.
even though was not charged by Judge of committing any wrong. the atty. wanted me to take anger management classes.
All this only to say any dog that comes on this place gets a pan of water and if hungry a meal. if has a collar with phone call will call to let owner where the dog is.

People who say there is a stand your ground law are fooling them selves into a legal wrangle only the legal system benefits
