They are a rather large parts place, so I wouldn't expect them to have every part memorized. But I assume they have things like this block described in detail in a database they reference when someone inquires. So, I'm wondering if they possibly DO have the block as described to LD1, and maybe they shipped the wrong block.

If they sent the wrong block they would have said, "ah crap we sent you the wrong block" when he called to complain.
Yeah that's true. So how does a place think they will get away with something like this? Incompetence could explain how they thought the block could work even though it was from the wrong tractor. There's no way around the lies regarding the condition.

Don't be too nice. Call the CC company to find out the process on a disputed charge. It's no big deal but first the seller has to be allowed the option to make things right. Usually a dealer will credit you back at the mere mention of a disputed charge so they must not win very often.
Having bought many hundreds of used parts, I would never trust any salvage yard as far as I can throw them, when it comes to their assessment of the condition of a part.
The norm was to be told the part is beautiful. And after they deliver it, when you call to tell them it's not, they would say, "Well, I never saw it, so I did not know". :laughing:
Even when they would admit it needed some work, they never came close to a fair assessment of the damage.
Sadly, they are make used car salesmen, look like they have integrity.

This entire thread is just so darn unfair. Why do people even consider screwing others. I keep following this thread to see the post that has a light at the end of the tunnel.
I went out to look at a used implement ONCE. It was in such bad shape - it was totally embarrassing. The guy started making excuses - I just turned around and walked back to my vehicle.

I know I'm an Azz hole But there is no way I could screw someone over. They should have looked at the condition of the engine themselves.

Sorry to hear about the used block not working out and the delay it's cost you. I know that auto salvage yards are usually pretty good about making sure parts pulled from cars get a detailed description of the vehicle it came from to avoid problems like that. I have to believe that they would of known the difference between the two tractors. I'm wondering if someone called up looking for an MX4700 block in the past thinking they were going to get a worn out block that could be machined and ended up with a nicer newer block and figured it was their lucky day and didn't bother to get it straightened out.

Person who said it was because of EPA dealer needed to drill a hole in warranty block - that is standard practice by all companies. Dealers get parts back under warranty, yet paid, and then sell them as new after their repair. Company can end up paying again. Have had many examples of finding that problem so if in question I labeled some parts as return if warranties to make sure they didn’t get back to customer. Something like an engine would get an automatic return because we’d want to know what the heck happened.
