Blew up Kubota motor

Recently the digital age and cost of shipping and processing warranty parts recalls have reduced the number of recalls to a very few. I have been involved in 4 complete engine warranty replacements involving two manufacturers in the last 12 months. In each case, extensive photographic evidence was submitted electronically prior to the job being approved and the failed engines were not recalled. The most recent is still within the timeframe where a recall is possible, but I do not expect it will be.

Drilling the block had nothing to do with warranty, recall, etc.

It is simply the EPA.

The engine I need is a tier 3.....doesnt meet current standards. Thus Kubota cannot legally sell a new "dirty" engine.

They make an exception however....for replacement engines. But need to assure the EPA that they arent adding to the number of "dirty" engines in circulation. The kubota has the engine IN STOCK in Kansas. But will NOT even release it to the dealer without documents and pictures of the destroyed old engine. IF they get caught shipping it without all the proper paperwork and pictures, its a $25,000 fine.

Probably not a bad deal. But 7 hr 456mile drive one way.

And I already have ordered a new engine and drilled my old block. Hopefully it will arrive later this week

You'll feel better with a fresh engine and it will run and act like new.

Returning a complete engine does add cost but we turn around and donate them to tech schools. Besides failed larger engines are not that usual. Smaller engines around 20 - 40 HP, dealer scrap. Incredible what they charge for an engine knowing what they cost and degree of customer dissatisfaction.

Block was shipped back. They received it yesterday morning. 10:30AM my time so about 9:30 their time.

Just waiting on my card to be credited. If its not credited by the end of today I am gonna call them.
