Decent quality grease gun?

Thread might be better placed ion the Tools section.

How does LnL differ from the regular tips? I don't see much difference in the pictures on their site.

I have a couple from HF that work fine and a couple of older ones from who knows where. One of those is plugged up and I need to find a way to dissolve whatever is in the metal tube ... maybe mineral spirits?

All my battery tools are Ryobi and I haven't found a grease gun from them yet.

The LNL isn't anything like the regular end on a grease gun, it's spring loaded with a lever with jaws, once you use one, you will like it, no pulling trying to take it off the fitting, no holding it onto fittings and no grease coming out the sides..

All good points!! The tubes are refillable. And the tip style is the same clam shell clamp as the other brands. We sure like it!

How ? What device do you fill it with ? Is there a YouTube on that ?

I know. I replaced my standard coupler on my manual gun with a LnL. I have a LnL XL (like the LnL only a lot longerl) I replaced the standard coupler on the Dewalt with.

You gotta try it... you'll like it!

I see all these positive and a tiny tiny bit of negatives on the LnL. I have one and can't tell any difference.....may have to get it out of the package and install it on the end of my air powered grease gun which once owning air powered would never go back to hand pump. I was having problems with the tip releasing on some zerks and was having to twist the tip to get it to release. Even bought a kit with several different tips from Amazon and switched tips and still had a few that were hard to get to release with greasy hands and still turning the tip to get it to release. Finally ordered the LnL but haven't installed it yet so soon to do after reading this thread on this Kubota Owners forum and wouldn't have known about all this great info if it was located on one of the many many other TBN forums. I may not have known how severe my problem was to have went searching high and low for answers to what I didn't recognize as a big or common issue/problem. I appreciate people posting here in the owners forum when it's something common to owners or may be common to us. I know I can skip over posts based on the heading for which I have no interest or think I don't but I guess some think they have to read every post, how does anyone have that much time?

My take on the LNL...
It works if you have adequate room to use it...
In tight places it is no better or worse than a regular coupler...
But overall I like it...
I prefer a pistol grip handle and hose with the LNL...
I've tried several air operated units with at best average results...
Just aggravating to hook up the air hose and finagle around everything...
I eventually may purchase a DeWalt cordless since I have a driver that has the 20V batteries...
My current grease guns are from Tractor Supply and Northern Tool...
Can't think of the brand name...
Seems like I paid in the $20 to $30 range but that was 10 to 15 plus years ago...

So in the You Tube the only means (we know of at this point) to refill the plastic, threaded grease cartridge is to have another pump fitted to a large 5 gal grease can -- a lifetime supply for many of us. And that rig costs as much or more than the basic grease gun. Except for large volume users this looks impractical to me. I would guess that there is a possibility that the screw-in cartridge may become very popular and after some time that whole technology MAY replace the current "standard" mess. Until that transition takes place (if it happens so you can go pick up the cartridges at a local store) it will be an adventure to use these newer style cartridges/guns.

Great idea to solve the old std. mess, that's for sure.

Just some quick figuring, a 120lb drum of Mystik JT-6 is $270, drum pump is $75, lube shuttle $60, case of 10 tubes to get you going is $40 for a total of about $450. For a lifetime of hassle free greasing for most of us. OR the DEWALT grease gun only is about $150 then 4$ cartridges - you buy 75 cartridges and a battery and you have spent more than the new fangle gadget that we are discussing.

Who would have thought a lowly grease gun would have evoked such lengthy conversations!!

And no, I’m not advocating for Mystik grease - that was just what pulled up on Oriely’s first! I’m sure that’s a whole other discussion!

For a single hand operated grease gun I will ad a vote for the John Deere Heavy Duty Pistol Grip Grease Gun TY26689 for $35.99 at greenfarmparts.com. It has a pressure and volume setting and is probably the same one mentioned in posts 13 and 16.

I bought done of those JD guns about 15 years ago and still going strong.
