What is wrong with middle aged people?

he probably figured well I'm going to jail next week and I need to show this cop that he is not getting away with treating my girlfriend and I like crap.. That's closer to the real story than anything I have heard or read..

I'm not sure that's your opinion or not, but regardless, that's quite a sympathetic description of the story I read about. If a sympathetic take is even possible. Here is what I found when I researched the crime, including information from court documents, published reports, and HIS attorney:

- "A member of the Skowhegan Area High School class of 2007, Williams did not graduate with his class and it’s unclear whether he dropped out"
- "Neighbors near his last known address — knew little about the 29-year-old, who has a criminal history in Maine, Tennessee and Massachusetts."
- "The FBI released this photo of John Williams' extensive tattoos. "
- "The motive for the killing remains unclear."
- "On Thursday they offered a possible motivation for the killing, saying Cole had been involved days earlier in the arrest of Williams’ girlfriend, Kristina Pomerleau, on charges related to cocaine possession and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license."
- "A friend of Williams reportedly told police that on the night of the murder, Williams had several bags with him and a bulletproof vest. She described Williams as being "tweaked."
- "Court documents show Cole was on his cell phone around 1 a.m. The call was "abruptly ended and appeared to have lost service or connection," according to an affidavit."
- The documents show Williams made a call to a friend around 1:15 a.m. saying that he had shot a deputy in the head.
- "After picking Williams up, his friend told police Williams "immediately took out his crack pipe and began smoking drugs."
- "After killing Cole, Williams stole the deputy's marked Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and then robbed a Cumberland Farms convenience store"
- "Cole's body was discovered around 7:30 a.m. Cole died from a gunshot wound that perforated his spinal cord."
- "At the time of capture, John Williams was cold, hungry, wet, tired, and in the middle of an opiate withdrawal.”

So he is a high school dropout, heavily tattooed, has a criminal history in three states, has a girlfriend busted for cocaine possession, is "tweaked out" on meth the night of the murder, and when captured was also going through opiate withdrawal. I hope he never gets out of jail.

For french language, just raise up your arms as to surrender, and you should be good.

Or take a picture of a rifle dropped on the ground as part of retreat from battle. :D

Before the war in Iraq, the French announced they would not send forces to support the effort. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld famously said: "Going to war without bringing the French is like going to war and forgetting to bring your accordian." :D

I agree.. I was simply pointing out he more than likely had a reason for revenge towards the sheriff he shot. It would be VERY coincidental he shot one of the same cops that arrested his girlfriend a day or two before he shot the cop.. Either way the kid was a drug addicted loser. Lots of people have tattoos these days so I don't see that having anything to do with him being a loser..

Google the tat photos and you might reconsider ...

This is what I see..

Williams has at least eight tattoos: the words “SEVEN ELEVEN” on his chest, below his collarbones; the abbreviation “est” in between his pectorals; the name “WILLIAMS” on his lower abdomen, above his navel; a half sleeve on his left arm; the word “Semper” on his upper right arm; the word “Fidelis” on his upper left arm; and a small safety selector symbol on the back of his left hand; and “Molon Labe” on his right forearm.

How do you figure that? I believe The story says he was never in the military..

I didn't figure anything.
I asked.
A reasonable question for someone sporting "Semper Fidelis"
I didn't see your post before deleting mine after I found the answer.

Gotcha.. I'm pretty sure he didn't serve any time in the military.. He had a good job and was apparently a great employee for several years until he started smoking crack, no good ever comes from that..

That has not been my experience. I find cops to be more dishonest than other people that I know. I have a cop in the family and have been to their gatherings (of mostly cops) and there is no way I would trust the majority of them. I am sure there are many that are honest, but NO WAY are the VAST majority of them honest. Maybe majority, but not VAST majority. The family member is a flat out liar.

How interesting. Remind me to never go to Washington state. Down here the VAST majority are very good people. And I have known hundreds of them. I used to be one of them.

Same here.. Must be a bunch of ya-ho's in WA.. Never been there, probably never will..

I like watching "Live PD" "Cops" "Alaska State Troopers".. I have no idea how some of those officers keep their cool with some of the idiots they have to deal with. They know they are on camera but you can tell the natural demeanor of most of those officers, I don't know how they do it..

Are you sure you're not describing the Washington State politicians not the cops?

Yikes... while my dataset is small, that surely is not the case for me. I have a relative that works in the Kitsap Sherriff's department on the drug enforcement side of things... deals with a lot of drug low life. He has always been a straight arrow but don't know him well.

Maybe it is the circle of buddies your liar is accepted in?

With Law Enforcement Agencies more than anything else the top command is the key. I've been around a few. If the Chief, Sheriff, Commissioner, SAC or whoever is in charge is not straight then bad hombres will get into the agency. Once that happens and top command doesn't root it out and clean it up then the best thing to do is get as far away as possible. It will get cleaned up and you don't want to be part of it when that happens.

A strong, straight top command will have far ranging effects on morale as well as everyone being clean. I've seen good departments go down the tubes just on morale alone when they lose a strong command and wind up with weak top command. Doesn't have to be corrupt but just weakness and ineffectiveness is almost as bad.

I think you are on to something there.

Yep, that's exactly what I saw during my years in law enforcement. Sometimes you have a chief who is so determined to be liked by the troops that he allows discipline to go downhill and doesn't realize that in the long run he's not accomplishing what he hoped for.

^^^^^^
That isn't limited to the law enforcement field by any means.

Yep, like trying to be your child's friend when you should be your child's parent. ;)
