I've come into a AC ' G ' ( can't beat free ) which someone converted to four battery 12V electric motor after blowing the original motor ... no oil in crankcase might have something to do with that.

I have heard of folks doing a diesel conversion on the ' G ', guessing a Kubota diesel ... anyone know about it, any Do's or Don't, recommendations ?

I've seen a couple diesel conversions on "G"'s, but none looked easy.

I read about Deutz had an air cooled single cylinder 18hp replacement motor, but I've never been able to find one. I'd sure like to have one for MY G though!

Oggun makes a new tractor just like the G, will their motor fit?

I've seen some that "resemble" a "G", but NONE that are "just like a G"....

Hello Rob, I hadn't thought of a Deutz, but now you've mentioned it, I will check into it. There is a shop just over an hour from me in Ephrata, Pa that specializes in Deutz. I don't recall the name of shop ( it is on Pleasant Valley Rd ), but will find out.

Interesting David .... I checked and watched this interview with the apparent Brains Behind the Operation, great demo of the tractor .... Oggun; A Tractor from Alabama with Global Applications? - YouTube .

Rob Sawyer's thought is right, resembles, but not just like a G ... I see it is Hydrostatic drive and seems like it would be much more adaptable than the Allis G. The fellow in interview did mention it had a diesel option until the California Regs bit them in the butt, however, they still offer the diesel for International Sales. Never hurts to know a little more.

Here is a farm show article about a guy who converts them to diesel:

FARM SHOW Magazine - The BEST stories about Made-It-Myself Shop Inventions, Farming and Gardening Tips, Time-saving Tricks & the Best Farm Shop Hacks, DIY Farm Projects, Tips on Boosting your farm income, time-saving farming advice, farming tractors

Looks like he uses a 3-cyl. Isuzu industrial 22 hp diesel. That would be a heck of an upgrade since the continental engine is about 10hp not to mention the torque difference of a diesel. I would have to call that "Super G". :D We have a G in the family that was my Dad's. I would like to re-power it with a diesel as well.

IF you start putting big HP in a "G" and use it at all, be sure to buy up several axles, your going to need them!!
