Good.

I should not run any different with on road, or off road fuel, if the quality is up to par. Same stuff, different color.

As far as what to use for that job, if you find a good gravel supplier they will generally spread dump, (tailgate), the stone so nicely, you won't need to do more than rake a few spots.

I woud go around and check all the bolts with allen heads on them. Then make sure the lug nuts are tight, mine were all a little loose. Check the front end to make sure there is enough fluid in there. It should be about half way full. If you have a IR temp gun, shoot it at the top of the head by the fuel injectors to see if one is running hotter than the others. I would just make sure you bring it up to temp a few times and break it in good. Then if you still have issues, see your dealer.

If you send me your email, I can send you a PDF of the service manual for you have. It's come in quite handy a few times for me.

Being that you have 6hrs on the tractor, I would be running pto speed when running the rotary cutter. You can still mow at a slower ground speed, but, run at the correct rpm. Just because you have it set at a lower rpm, it doesn't mean the governor isn't at full throttle.

I'd document this with a copy to the dealer or factory just to be sure about any warranty problems that might come up.

Hey there,

I'm quite new and recently posted a thread about my new tractor. I'm tossing this one up with the hope of getting some insight on what I should do about an issue I'm having.

I just took ownership of this tractor about 10 days ago. Only ran it around the yard, idled it a little bit, learned the backhoe controls and just familiarized myself with it.

The weather had been bad for a few days and today I was finally able to try and mow my 4 acres with it. My land is basically flat and grassy.

Everything was going great at first. It was smooth and went through the field-cutting like it wasn't even trying. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. I wasn't cutting fast at all or really taxing the tractor.

About an acre in, I noticed that it was maybe a little weaker and felt different. I could hear the HST a little more, or maybe I was just noticed it more once it seemed to begin acting up. I stopped and let it idle a bit. I noticed that there was quite strong vibrations being transmitted through the whole tractor. My PTO was disengaged and I was on smooth concrete.

I opened the hood to take a look and the engine was vibrating a lot-more than it did before. It is very strange. The engine was barely operating at the first line on the temp gauge.

The vibrations happen at all RPMs. I will share a video to show what I mean.

I am feeling a little sick to my stomach and heart-broken about this tractor, now. I haven't even made my first payment yet :( I plan to call the dealership in the morning. I don't really know what they will do for me- probably charge me a fee to come get it for nothing.

The engine was sooooo smooth before. I remember specifically being very impressed with how a 3cyl diesel could idle so smoothly. Something is definitely wrong. Could it be a miss? Have there been any reports of issues like this?
Run the engine WOT and do some heavy work with it. Go or blow is my motto. Warranty will take care of you if it blows up. Maybe a motor mount shook loose? Do you have a grass ball wrapped around the shaft underneath?

Ditto on the motor mounts... just occurred to me. Certainly one would not expect a tractor with only 6 hours on it to have engine mount issues, but it might be worth a look. I had all four of them break on my 2310.

Hate to bring back an old thread, but I was wondering if there was any more info about the rough run. I have a 2018 1720 with just under 50 hours and it has a definite low to mid rpm misfire. It goes away above 2500rpm.

Going to the dealer next week...

Have you checked or swapped the injectors? Hard to have a misfire in a compression ignition diesel.

Coldsteel is right.

PowerlineFixer: Very likely the "misfire" is just obscured and no longer obvious at the higher rpm. I doubt that it really goes away per se.

Do the GC 1700 series tractors have a water drain on the fuel system?
