Especially when the passersby posse commences to shootin'.
False narrative.

The instances where Good Samaritans have prevented serious injury or death far outweigh instances where they have created problems. Despite "Progressive" narrative to the contrary.

There is a poster quoting two FL parents stating that if all states had Massachusetts gun laws, 2,700 lives would be saved per year. Yet Massachusetts is the most violent state in the Northeast, and crime with guns has increased substantially since a massive gun law package was passed in 1998.

Massachusetts Gun Control Success – A False & Dangerous Narrative

I'm not saying citizens should not carry guns. But in the fog of, not war, but whatever event may happen, how does the law abiding gun toting citizen identify themselves to a LEO?

Not only that, but law abiding armed people do go crazy. Sometimes I would even argue, that despite having passed background checks, they ARE the crazy ones.

You start by having your weapon holstered and concealed by the time the LEO gets to the scene (about 15 or 20 minutes after the shooting in my area. Much faster in some jurisdictions). You have your hands up and out when the LEO approaches. You tell him you are the one that called this in. (you did call this in, didn't you?) You do EXACTLY what he/she says to do, Including laying on your belly and your hands laced on your head and your ankles crossed if that is what they want.

You also need to gauge their level of excitement and don't do anything to increase that level. Answer all of their questions accurately in a calm voice. Stay as calm as possible. Remember he doesn't trust you and is looking for you to do something stupid. Don't do that.

If he asks if you are armed, tell him where it is (calmly) and make absolutely NO movement toward the firearm AT ALL for ANY REASON. If you are asked to crawl toward him/her, do it. IF your pants are coming off from crawling on the ground, let them fall off. DO NOT EVER NEVER EVER reach towards your belt to pull up your pants. LET THEM SUMBITCH"S fall around your ankles. If your Johnson is hanging out. LET IT HANG. Police officers male and female alike have seen plenty of naked people.

In other words do everything possible to defuse the situation. The main event has already happened. YOU are no longer in control when the police arrive THEY are. The sooner the police are calm and reassured, the better off all will be. You may be way smarter, and way more experienced than they are. So prove it, and defuse the situation.

Could you please provide a link to the news source. I looked, couldn't find anything without looking too hard, just sounds like the case in Baltimore and thinking you got them mixed up.

That is possible. I was listening to the local news with one ear.

I hate to say it, but being treated as if I might be a criminal, until things get sorted out, WOULD bother me immensely! You always see movies and TV shows where the cops show up and automatically know who is friend and foe!

Have to laugh, do everything he/she says, they still shoot you, you're dead, and they say they saw you reaching for a weapon. Case closed.

If I were on a shooting scene and I was the one doing the shooting, IF I stayed there, the gun would be NO WHERE near me when the cops showed up. Heck, while waiting I'd probably strip to my underwear and be laying on the ground with my hands behind my head waiting for them...

Sorry, If you make it inside my home which is 400 ft off the road, fenced and has a gated drive, You are screwed ! You had 400 feet before you reached my home to change your mind, turn around and go back over the fence.
I will not retreat ..

Just saw on the local news where someone took a woman's car.
As the thief drove away in the car. the woman fired shots into the car. She wasn't charged

Same here, again while I was on dispatch. homeowner heard a guy outside, saw him in homeowners truck, perp drives away, homeowner fires shots. Fall-out: Homeowner had just gotten his carry permit. No charges filed but the undersheriff gave him a very stern lecture about the law.

Carry your own zip ties. They are so long, you could probably cinch them up behind your back with your teeth. Whenever I see those long ties, I always wonder why they have to be so wasteful?

Studies have shown where there are more carry permits there is less crime - criminals don't want to engage in shoot outs, they want easy prey.

With cameras everywhere now, shot location equipment in cities, more alarms, etc crime rates are falling as the odds of being caught has gone up.

I've read enough of your rhetoric about LEOs to know you would not do those things. I base this on the first paragraph of your statement above. You would be very difficult for LEO to handle because you know what's best. :)
