On Monday, I picked up a 14 inch Roadshock LED light bar at Harbor Freight with a sweet 25% off coupon. I planned on installing it on top of the (fixed) ROPS on my BX2660. Silly me, once I got it home I realized that there wouldn't be much, if any, clearance between the back of my big fat head and the light bar on top of the ROPS. It would basically be lighting up the back of my head instead of the night. Anyway, I returned it and bought 2 Roadshock 3 floodlights. I live in the woods with lots of trees but I mow the grass (lots of weeds and Japanese stilt grass), so I'm thinking I may mount the lights inside the top corners of the ROPS. Anything mounted on the outside will probably get whacked by a branch. Has anyone done this and does anyone have any tips? I haven't ruled out returning them and buying some lights that would be held in place with magnets and maybe powered via the 12V plug. I won't use the lights much; probably just while plowing during/after heavy snowstorms.
Thanks for any help/pictures!

Well I don’t really think we need a picture of your big fat head BUT if you insist.....
Let us know if you are on a computer or a phone/tablet type device. If you have the app for the phone it’s fairly simple. Thx for sharing the story!

I did do this with my old JD I had. I also live in the woods and quite dense. One thing I did was to mount the lights with a rubber isolation disc about an inch thick. It worked out well.

I remounted the stop and turn/em flasher lamps in my MF GC 1715 to inside of my ROPS after discovering the replacement lamp assembly was $127 (don't even ask) and the funky little strap steel guard didn't do anything to protect lamp assembly....

Mount them were the best serve you best and are protected... Magnetic base would make them very adaptable to any situation...

Thanks guys---especially Ford 850. I remember reading that article a while back but then I couldn't find it again. I think I'll take those lamps back to HF and get my 50 bucks back and order lights and magnets!

I removed the top part of my ROPS bar and welded on the piece of metal, I then attached the light to it, and used a zip tie to attach the switch. I can turn the light to have it shine forward or backwards. I have a second light mounted to the tractor body beside the tool box tray that is behind the seat, that switch in behind the speed control knob. I didn't want both switches in the same place. The second light illuminates the 3 point hitch from a lower angle that it's not blinding.

I used 2 30lb magnets on the mounting brackets for my cube lights. I have hit them with branches and they just get knocked loose or moved. I can just move them back to where I want them. This also allows me to position them for the best angle depending on the task. I can turn them easily to face the back or side when needed (backhoe work, mower, etc...). Worked so well, bought smaller magnets and bolted cable clamps to them, which holds the wire. I can remove the wire / magnets and have enough length to put the lights under the tractor if needed to see something under there.

I am impressed. Good idea and good execution.
