Bought a 4310

The 300R is rated at 999 lbs lift. Probably about the same as a stock 420. My dealer quoted $4900 plus tax for the 320R loader which is probably similar to the older 430 at 1122 lbs lift.

My revamped 420 should have the higher lift capacity with the larger cylinders and will also go much higher. I am planning to set my tires to the wide position and be very careful. I doubt seriously I will ever raise the loader to max lift. My main use for this setup is going to be for grapple use. As soon as I get the loader done I am going to order a grapple. I am going to use a solenoid selector valve for the third function. The 4310 has an unused third spool valve on it but I'm thinking I may want to use that later for a hydraulic top link. I will do a separate thread on my loader and third function when it's all done. I made the knob and wired the switch in the other day so that is ready to go.

What's the chance you could document the connections on your new cylinders? What type of hydraulic hose ends are needed, in case any of the rest of us decide to follow your path? Could you tell us what part numbers you ordered from the place?

That will probably come in handy for a bit.

I been very pleased with it so far. I originally was looking at a curtis hard cab for the one I had and then pricing out the cost of one and the fact that it would be extremely difficult to run the backhoe off it with a cab I opted for a similar model that I could swap attachments out back and forth. So I found this 4400 on tractor house with cab, loader, mower and plow at a price I could swing and jumped on it. It's got just over 3k hours on it but the hydro is strong, no blow-by or leaks and starts in 10 deg. weather with just 5 seconds using the pre-heater.

When I'm done I will supply a detailed list of components with descriptions. I may not have part numbers for everything. I probably should have looked closer at possible pin end cylinders since that is what it came with but I'm too far in to stop now. Travel wise it looks like the 2x18 cross type cylinders are going to work fine. The cylinders actually have the same #6 ORB type ports that the originals had but will be positioned on the top for the bucket and bottom for the lift rather than on the sides. May want to save further discussion on the loader for it's own thread. Planning to order all the adapters and hoses from a local shop tomorrow.

Good deal. Thanks.

4310 transmission oil capacity (for t he hydro) is listed as 6.8 gallons. I wonder what the capacity is, officially, of the 300R loader, or of the tractor with the loader (I can then do the math ;) I changed the oil out yesterday, and I think I now have 7.5 gallons in it, and ran out of oil before the level in the sight glass reach the mid-point. Once I get more oil to add, I'll do the math, but I can't find any "official" listing of the 300R capacity.

I added about 2 more quarts only, and the fluid is in the center of the sight glass. So, that was just over 8 gallons for the tractor and the 300R loader.

I picked up a 420 loader and all the brackets for it for $1200. The loader was missing the bucket cylinders. I am going to try and retrofit some 2" cylinders on the lift and bucket to increase the strength and height. Planning to do another thread on that.

This tractor has worn out front tires and the RR is cracked in the outer sidewall and between the treads. Cracks on the sidewall are symmetrical and go from the rim towards the tread all the way around about every 8 to 10 inches.
remember, if you increase the cylinder size, you may exceed the strength of the loader, and it may fail catastrophically!.. larger cylinders will exert more force, at the expense of extend/contraction speed..

Only increasing the bore size a 1/4" over original. 430 loader comes with 2" bore cylinders and uses pretty much the same frame. I don't think it's an issue.

Just connected the loader this afternoon and it took less than a gallon to top the tractor back up.

Unfortunately the latch plate on this 420 loader won't connect to the front weight bracket on my 4310. Back to the junkyard in the morning.

Do you have a pic of the mismatch on the latch plate?

No I didn't take any. Hoping the front plate on the 4300 the loader came off of will bolt on my 4310 and solve the problem.

Heading to the salvage yard I bought the loader from in the morning.
