New York at least explains the Riello burner comment, LOL Agway use to use them up there years ago. Swear to God, even in Pa, guys prefer the Beckett over the Riello which I could never understand why. But yes, your right, Buderus, and the Riello burner is one of the best out there because they manufacturer all their own parts (at least they did when I knew them).

Have to laugh, so much for online reviews LMAO

Ha, ha - you KNOW what my response to that would be. It better be BIG, BLUE and one gas sucking monster. A note - I was browsing thru the OP Manual. They recommend 89 octane fuel for the 6.4 liter Hemi. 87 is acceptable - 89 preferred. When I tromp on the gas peddle I want to see instant feedback via the gas gauge.

That's getting close to my BMW R1200GSA. It's 92 or start pushing.

That entire octane requirement scenario is odd. With todays technology there should be a feature where you can change the fuel mapping thru the digital dash display. I seldom travel to areas where all three grades aren't available. I've never had to use a compromise grade. With eight gallons available on the BMW and I get 55 mpg - the butt gives out LONG before fuel becomes a problem.

Another note - I'm having quite a bit of difficulty finding a suitable tonneau cover. The word is - - "our unit will fit but because of the RamBox storage system - getting an acceptable weather tight seal is a problem". One company I really liked - Diamond Back HD - actually recommended that I not purchase their product.

I have the 6.4L in my Ram 2500. I've been using 87 octane since I bought it and it has been just fine. Plenty of power. Using 87 instead of 89 just causes engine management to change timing slightly and de-tune it.

I had the 5.7L in my 2010 1500 which also 'recommended' 89 octane but I had a tune in that which required 92 octane so I used 92 for most of its life. The 30 cent per gallon extra cost was a pain to deal with but the extra HP was wonderful. This 6.4L is every bit as powerful under 87 as the 5.7 was with 92 so I'm a happy camper all around these days.

The 6.4L is a gas-sucking monster. 12-14 normal driving. I've had 19 on long highway trips loaded with people and gear though. In this respect it equals my 2010 with the tune.

Looking VERY forward to seeing the pics of your BLUE Power Wagon!!

As far as I understand it the ECU changes fuel mapping and timing automatically to adjust to fuel conditions. I'm guessing it does that by detecting early signs of knock??

WoW There is only a 10 cent cost jump as you go up grades here... 2.45 - 2.55 - 2.65. Probably because our gas is so dam expensive to start with.

30 cents over 87. Here in MN 89 is usually 10 cents over 87 but 92 is often 30-50 cents higher. Not a lot of consistency on that. I suspect because gas stations only advertise the 87 price on their signs they feel they can get away with a lot more for premium. Sometimes stations only have 92 non-oxy too, which is also even higher.

Our gas has been sitting around $2.09 for the last couple months but it was down to $1.99 for a week or so in Jan.
