Rotary Cutter Suggestions For a B2650

I have a B3030 and had to deal with this same issue last year. I have been using a woods xt148 48 mower which is the correct size for my tree farm use. I entered into a Monarch Butterfly habitat program last year through the USDA which required me to mow the 60 acre field to control weeds the first year and only spot mow as required after that. Didn稚 want to pay the going rate of $35. Per hour to hire someone, so decided to buy a 5 foot. Wanted a LandPride because of the high tip speed and looked at the rcr1860 and rcr1260. Decided on the 1260 because of weight and the fact I知 only needing it for grass and weeds. After about 100 tach hours of mowing, I can confirm I made the correct choice. Tractor plays with the mower and the cut is excellent. Mowed all once, and some up to 3X. My tractor has 23 PTO HP and is very close in size as the B2650.

Correction to my previous post. I meant to say I didn稚 want to pay $35. Per acre to have someone mow my 60 acres. Given the number of acres I would of spent close to $4000. which would be hard for an old retired guy like me to do. I need to proof read my posts in the future.

Thanks for posting that Treefarmer, nice hearing the 1260 gives a good cut which is important to me more than being able to cut through heavy brush and 2 saplings.

I have a Land Pride RCR1260 that I bought new with my B2560 in the fall of 2017. The main reason I chose this cutter over anything else was the fact that I could include it with the tractor and a couple of other implements in my 0% financing. I haven't used this cutter a lot but I have used it to run over brush as thick as 2" and it has worked great. Last summer I used it to help the neighbours at our camp. They live in Michigan and are about 5 hours away. When they come to their camp in the summer they have to fight with 2 to 3 foot tall rough grass and weeds for a couple of days before they can enjoy their camp. I went over and cut the entire lot in about 15 minutes. By cutting it down to about 4" they were able to finish it off in an hour with a push mower when they arrived. I then widened the road to their place by about 5 feet using the cutter and just driving over the alders impeding on the road. I couldn't be happier with the performance.

GRTkub thanks for the 1260 testimonial on your B2650, it値l probably handle what I need and it appears it leaves a pretty good cut for a RC!

You're welcome. My plans for the cutter are to mow both sides of my camp road. My camp road is on an old snowmobile club groomed trail and the club used to keep the road open. That club folded a few years ago and the road has grown in very quickly. I'm using a JDunn grapple, my bucket and the cutter to get rid of the brush a bit at a time. I should be done sometime this summer. Then I can just use the cutter a couple of time a year to keep the alders and evergreens from growing and impeding on the road. I plan on doing the road to the neighbours' camps as well. Total cut will be about 2 miles each way but it will be easy once the offending brush is gone.
