Currently at 318k miles on my 2005 Ford Five Hundred with 3.0 dohc Duratec. Orig motor and trans. No internal engine work done. In fact, still on orig water pump and fuel pump.

The son killed his first deer with our 2006 Ford Five Hundred with 180K on it. I bought it back for $200 and gave it to my tractor mechanic who has 3 Ford 350's from the 90's but no car and he seems excited about it. He said another 1/2 inch harder impact it would have blown the air bags. It cracked the radiator and grille. My son actually drove 3 miles back to the house and got his Dodge 1500 because it was finals week this last Dec. The Five Hundred chassis is the Volvo S80 series and perhaps the transmission as well, same as used by Toyota and others. The 3.0L seems bullet proof. We did put on an alternator and power steering pump.

My 2001 Ford Taurus 3.0 went 336K before I sold it, and it was running good when I did. I did nothing major on it, original trans, and no motor work to speak of. My 2001 F-250 7.3 diesel I put 520K and sold it, I did the oil pan twice and a bunch of little stuff.

Not even close. Most of my "tough vehicle time" was spent in Alaska. If a vehicle lasted me 6-7 years and had 75K miles - it was most normally beat to S**T. Between the massive amounts of rock salt used in the winter and all the off-road four wheeling - they would be TOAST at 75K.

Same deal in upper Michigan. It was sort of shocking to see 5 year old cars rusting out, and the locals thought this was normal. :)

I average a little less that 100 miles per day. Gonna keep it as long as it runs well and nothing major breaks. I have used Mobil 1 since day 1 (I bought the car new) and have always changed the oil and filter every 5k miles.

It has been the best car I have ever owned. Has a couple rust spots in front of each rear tire, but I don't care at this point. I am on my third alternator, have replaced the front right halfshaft once, serpentine belt several times, on my second set of rotors, windshield replaced once, brake pads replaced several times of course, tires replaced several times, etc.

The biggest expense was 3 years ago when I replaced the AC compressor and condenser. Other than that, no big problems.

I am on my third alternator. I have hit several deer in my. First hit was pretty big (no airbag deployment, but the radiator was replaced). The engine is great. The elec throttle body went bad once...made the car go into limp mode...I replaced the TB. And one of the oxy sensors.

I retired a 2003 Tahoe Z71 in the spring of 2013, it had 301,298 on the ODO. I sold it locally for $5,500 and it is still running albeit I don't know current mileage or repairs on it. It spent its life in Michigan and I was fighting rust on the bottom of all four doors.

During my time with it, I had to rebuild the tranny at 147,000. New front wheel hubs at 110,000 miles. Remanufactured transfer case at 160,000 miles, the original xfer case had the oil pump failure that would puncture a hole in the magnesium case. New rear heater coolent lines at 130,000 miles. Replace front passenger window regulator at 110,000 miles. Ouitside of this, nothing else outside of scheduled maintance.

You spent $500 on a vehicle and only got 451,000 miles out of it? :confused3:
