I used cards all the time UNTIL I was buying gas and the card was declined, and yet again at the grocery store, made me feel like an idiot, there was no balance on the $5000 credit limit, they closed the account because I hadn't used it for a while and didn't let me know. I closed three accounts as soon as I got home, I keep one that I use for gas at least once a month they can keep the rest..
Credit card company's aren't in business to make sure your purchases are covered if fraud is evident or to give you money back, they sit and wait for an emergency high dollar item that you need immediately and don't have the money for and probably wont be able to cover within 20 days. It's a matter of time before that happens and they know it..
People have ups and downs through life, credit card company's wait for the downs and then give you a swift kick in the you know what as soon as the card holder is at there worst, nice people they are..
Yea, I don't agree with any of this.
I had 2 cards closed for inactivity. prolly got 5 emails and 2 mailed letters indicating the exact date they were closing the card.
i have been hit with fraud 3 times so far, one was over $8500. i know exactly where it got ripped off. a waitress in a airport restaurant, bought 8500 in airline tickets. i made a 15 minute call, had new cards issued and the entire 8500 dollars wiped from the slate. i wasn't out a dime, nor did i have to cover 1 cent of the fraud. debit card? that money is out of your account till they clear it up.
emergency high dollar item? sorry i have a rainy day fund for these type of events. How in the world this is the credit card company fault is beyond me. This is the issue with people they blame everyone for their poor financial planning, its never them. NO ONE forced you to use a credit card, no gun held to your head. You chose to use the credit card and knew the rates it would cost. they are multiple options for loans, which may have significantly better rates. whats this 20 days? credit card bills are due every month or 30 days, its actually longer since the bill is actually due the next month...
Why should a BUSINESS who's job it is to make money, give you free money? yet ironically i do get free money. I am a complete money loss for them, yet they don't close my accounts either.
you know whats a kick in the nuts? people who rack up 50-60-100k in debt. then either claim bankruptcy or debit consolidation where they pay 1/8 of what they owe and get the slate wiped clean? thats a kick in the nuts for people who pay their bills on time. what nice people they are...
Remember its never your fault....
