GMC Canyon?

22.9 ? going 55 the whole time? or is it 2wd?

i get about 18 with a flat bed cover and 17.4 with my cap. 2015 5.3 4 door with 6.5 bed.
I have a 2018 Silverado, 5.3, 4wd, 8' box no cover, I bought it new a few months ago...

Just driving around, I'm staying at 20.4. I've checked a couple times and 20 to 21 is where it stays...unless I'm towing...

I was, and still am surprised at just how good it is on fuel, I was "hoping" for 20mpg, and it beats that consistently. They seem to keep getting better and better on fuel...

Thanks for the rep,ies - will be trading my Ram and getting back in to a GM.

Any reason for trading the Ram so soon?

I rented a 2019 Ram and liked it a lot. LOTS of power. I'm also interested in a Canyon for a daily driver/back-up tow rig. I need to test drive one some day to get a feel for it.

My 2014 is the same way. I tend to average 19-20 on every tank unless there has been towing. For all highway, I have gotten 22-23 on a tank. Pretty darn good for a battleship.

I dont need a fullsize anymore, also not liking the hemi issues that i am seeing. Broken exhaust manifold bolts, cracked manifolds, cam and lifter issues...

I don't see the advantage of a Colorado, especially if you plan to tow.

It's almost the same length as a full sized truck, just narrower. So towing an 8' wide trailer will make visibility worse and the stability will be worse than with a full sized truck.

If you're looking for smaller engines, you can get a 3.6 Pentastar or a 3 liter Ecodiesel in the Ram 1500.

You can't put as much in the narrow bed and you can't seat as many passengers.

What are the advantages? Is the mileage a lot better?

I went from the full size Sierra to the Canyon for only one reason. We moved to a home on the lake and garage is smaller than we had before. Sierra would not fit and while still working and leaving house at 5 am did not want to scrape ice in winter.

On 50 mile each way commute to work Canyon gets around 20.5 mpg hand calculated compared to 18 with Sierra Crew Cab 4 wheel drive with 5.3 and 3.42 rears. Driving same way - half interstate - 75 mph or a bit more, a maybe two miles in town and rest two lane state roads at around 60 to 65 mph.

I see some folks getting 20 or more with the Sierras and I never did that in 93k miles keeping track by hand on all fill ups. Maybe drive too fast.

Would not be enough fuel mileage difference to me to drive smaller truck with reduced towing capabilities and my preference for full size truck. Nothing wrong at all with Canyon, I just prefer full size.

Will give it a towing test next week when pick up new boat. Will be near 7 k towing capacity. Will post how does.
