Well, then if you wear goggles. what is the use of the cumbersome sheild? I have been using a saw for 50 years and can't say that "chips" have ever been any issue at all.

And how many times have you been hit in the face by a kickback?

Then why worry about that feature?

I like the Husky helmets. I use it when running the chainsaw, and when using the big handlebar weedeaters, since they flick stuff everywhere.

I also find it handy for when I'm mowing; the ear protection is nice for extended time at PTO RPM on the tractor, the shroud keeps just from falling down back of my shirt, and the helmet provides some protections from branches etc when around trees.

It's handy when running the PTO chipper/shredder too, for hearing protection and face screen.

It was money well spent. I originally got it when I got a Husky 225R string trimmer with the full handlebar.

I've used several setups over the years including the Peltor system. While the latter is my favorite I have never used a screen which will stay attached in the brush where I use them. I've learned to use caution combined with safety glasses, and to deal with them always fogging up.

I looked at a lot Husqvarna helmets but all the one's I seen were over $50.00 with no ratchet knob and non of them showed a neck guard, I kinda like the ratchet knob. And what's with all that plastic ear muff holders holdings, there's just a little to much plastic for that price, the wire muff holder seems stronger to me.

I ordered this one 7 days ago, seem to have everything I wanted except it's from the UK, I dont care for buying stuff from other countries but after all the searching I did this was the closes to what I wanted. So if I translated the GBP right and it's good quality, it might be a good deal, so good it looks like there sold out, I should have it by next week and I'll post the pictures.

Hope you're pleased with the one you ordered, but just to throw it out there the husky is available with the ratchet (it's in the link posted above) and the muff attachment on mine is actually a spring steel tab with a plastic or rubbery bit molded over it. It works very well, it will either spring the muffs against your head or out away when not cutting. I had a labonville too for a bit and thought the husky muff mounts were better.

I looked at that one several times but I'm not seeing a ratchet knob and or the neck guard but then theres that only one picture, poor sale add. I did click on one like it and that looks like some slide click thing which may be ok-ish but I prefer the knob. It looks like theres around half dozen Husky helmet variations, what's up with that,,,,,,,,,,, more then three then it's pushing ridiculesness and konfusion.

I meant the link to the husky site farther up the page: Forestry helmets and hard hats, chainsaw safety helmets and hard hats with face protection

Looks like the ratchet version is $10 more. No idea on the neck guard, looks like they don't have one. Anyways, enjoy the new helmet!
