An easier way to refuel your tractor

/ An easier way to refuel your tractor #131
Here's my fuel setup nothing fancy and it's all got a lot of years on it,
the low tank with the hand pump is the winter fuel tank,
the high gravity fill is summer fuel.
The tank and stand is over 60years old, the grade level tank is going on 40,
One was my grandfathers and one is just a used one I picked with the pump for $50.

Nice set-up, 60 years old for tank and stand, now that's impressive that wood should've been rotted away 30 years ago, unless it's made of cedar even then that's a long time. With a old mans fuel tank on your tractor dont know if I'd need a transfer pump but if I had it I'd use it. I still cant decide if I'd want a the fuel tank in that location or not, I'd be afraid of banging it into a tree, stump or rock.

I like the tire pressure wrote on the hand truck. I got my crap marked up too. If I have to get on my knees to hunt for tire pressure, it requires a flashlight and sometimes I spit on my finger and "paint" the sidewall to make it easier to read. :ashamed:

Hey Oldpath ---- What is that contraption you have on the far right hand side of yer Shed, mounted on the outside wall about halfway up?

Someone has a eye for detail, a guy I work with always makes fun of me marking up stuff, all I know between bad memory and bad eyesight it saves me a lot of aggravation on trying to remember where I put my glasses and tires are one of the hardest thing for me to read, requires flashlight, glasses and a white marker.

Those do-hickeys you see on the side of shed is part of the old way of transferring the transfer barrel. The other do-hickey is the out front end loader holder upper, I have another one in my garage that I use all the time to make sure the FEL wont come down when parked.

I use one of these.

Yes, still need to put it up on the hood. I do that from the operator station. Not sure why the guy with the Kubota in the video did it from the front tire. Since the fuel is dispensed only when the button is pushed AND the 'can' is basically flat on all sides, I put the can on the hood with the spout in the fill port. The spout doesn't hit the bottom of the strainer in the fill port. Thus, no need to balance the can while you fill, just hold the button in until the tank is full.
I have yellow and red No Spill 5gal plastic cans. The button control gives you excellent control of flow and instant shut off. Added plastic vent caps. Easier than a valve stem to install and you don't lose the little black cap!

That is what I'm using @dragoneggs. They don't even need a vent. Easy to lay on top of the tractor hood with the spout in the screen, it isn't long enough to touch the bottom of the screen. Push the button until the tank is full or the can is empty.

The vent cap does dramatically increase the flow as the venting doesn’t have come through the pour spout.

Easiest way would be to get a Branson. They have fill spouts off to the side at step height. Loooove it!

The wood is only about 25 and also for the first half of the 60 it was under a shed roof.
As far as pumping for that low tank it would take a lot of cans some days to fill that tank it holds 26 gallons,
of course that not bad compared with the farms tractors tanks fortunately those have electric pumps,
would not want to hand pump several hundred gallons to get going in the mornings, :dance1::tractor:

Somehow I don't think the location of the fill port is likely to be the most important feature when choosing a tractor. Maybe a tie-breaker.
