Comparison who makes the best tractor for the money

From personal experience I know all major brand tractors hold their resale value. One brand doesn't outshine another. Ive followed used prices while helping a neighbor get a tractor. Man the used prices are so high I keep telling him to consider new. I could get more money for my 2010 dk45 cab now than what I paid for it new. Its truly crazy.

Depends if you want the lowest purchase price. The lowest cost combined over the next ten years . Or total cost including depreciation.

They are not always as different as some think. I usually find the lowest price is usually the best combined and resale always seems to work out even as a percentage with the exception of the type person who is willing to pay too much because they simply don稚 know any better.

You are right. Couple of months ago I was using my grapple on my MX when one of the quick attach levers was popped open by a branch. I never saw it while pushing a huge brush pile... Bent the &*%$ out of the stabilizer bar between the two loader arms at the quick attach when the grapple came half off. Thankfully my son is an ace at welding and such, and brought it back 100% and heftier. Anything can happen...

one of the most common occurrences and easy to fix

We all know that if Jesus had a tractor, it would be a John Deere用robably a 4020.
It痴 a fact...look it up.

If you are still looking for a tractor ...

Although I would have no problem using a NH or a Mahindra - I would find a dealer other than the one just north of Ocala

About 6 months after I bought my first Kubota I was in the dealership and asked my salesman just kidding 滴ey, if Kubota is so good why do they only give one year bumper to bumper warranty? He replied, go home and try to break it. That sold me, I won稚 even shop for another brand. There are comparison videos on most brands so look around. I wont own anything but a Kubota and Toyota.

With respect to Kubota, see my sig below. I didn't TRY to break anything, just used it for its intended purpose.

Toyota wise, a family friend had a '90s Tacoma with frame rails rusted so badly the bottom 2" was GONE between the driver's seat and the rear shock mounts. It had been to the dealer TWICE for recalls that did nothing to solve the problem, and was sold for chump change after his death. The worst dealer experience I ever had was with a new 4Runner, one of the best with an '88 Toyota 4x4 pickup. From where I sit now, I wouldn't purchase any of either company's current products just because of how I've seen them not stand behind what they've sold in the past.

So when I read this thread, and see several guys with several instances of the same brand tractor, that means more to me than which tractor has the most features for the fewest dollars. A good dealer makes a huge difference, and can smooth over a lot of "bad company" issues, but if warranty support is lousy, or the basic design is weak, even a dealer that walks on water isn't going to be able to compensate.:2cents:

So from that perspective, what's your best, and worst, LS story?

I was looking at CUTs when I bought last month, but found the same thing on used. Used wasn't worth it unless you started getting into something that was 10 plus years old. I found a few tractors that were 2-3 years old that actually were priced higher than brand new, even showed them quotes for new ones, and they wouldnt budge. The new used market on tractors cant be all that great right now.

I also like old Mopars and old Fords but wouldnt consider a Chevrolet unless I was getting a screaming deal......why?.....I dont know, its just because.

GM cars are much better designed from a mechanical engineering standpoint than Fords, and most definitely Mopars. Especially when looking at the musclecar era. Mopars were about the worst in terms of mechanical design, though really cool body styles on some of them.
