True. DPF isn't evil, it's literally filtering stuff that can kill you children—slowly but surely. Eventually a way will be found to regain lost efficiency, same as what the petrol engine makers have already done.

Oh my lord. Here we go with "the children".

So exactly what is the benefit of the dpf if it regens every so often and spits out all the pollutants in one big gob every 30 hours? Educate me please. And don't use the word children.

We need to worry about China and India who are the world's leading polluters of the environment. And abortion kills more children than anything else combined

Exactly! That must be what got the dinosaurs..

If I had a tractor that had a DPF, and I knew how to remove it without screwing up the tractor...it would be done immediately.
I have only read a few of the posts here and a few of them are touting "studies" ..we have a family member who does these type if "studies" for a living... it's amazing how the outcome always aligns with the sponsors desired results. ..and if it does not the first time around.. rest assured... the "study" will be reevaluated and specific data will be weighted to achieve the desired results.

Tetraethyllead lead is an awesome lubricant, cools valves and helped prevent detonation also.

Having smart kids is over-rated. :p

My old engines, and small engines, only like ethanol free fuel.
Ethanol free is not available "dispensed from a pump" in my state.
I buy 100 LL at the local airport.

Thus: Light aircraft ..... burning leaded fuel (per finn1 post)...... is a reason there are stupid kids?
I just learned something new again today!

What logic leads you to the conclusion that the regeneration spits out the pollutants in one big gob every 30 hours?

You clearly don’t understand regeneration chemistry.

Do you? If so, why not educate the list on regeneration chemistry instead of making that sort of comment?

All politics aside, the air quality here has deteriorated in the last 30 years. The prevailing winds means that we get a lot of the pollutants sent into the air from the rest of the country. We used to have clear skies all summer long, yet now it's more common than not to have less than stellar visibility, and traditional vistas are often obscured.
You can believe that everything coming out your exhaust pipe magically disappears yet that really isn't the case. With 8 million people on the planet it's impossible not to have an impact; yet I try to do what I can to reduce my impact. I don't need a study to tell me about air quality, all that I need to do is look out the window. Apparently most here are too young to remember the smog warnings of the 1960's in cities like NYC and San Francisco; resulting in some of our emissions laws which have done some good. Lead in airplane fuel is apparently necessary, I will take the word of pilots that the absence would cause undo problems; yet there is no valid reason to run it in small engines. However, I can understand why people have to run the 100LL if given no other choice though, they are living in irresponsible states which leave no other choice . Non-ethanol is all that I've run in all of my small engines except my snowsled since I've had the option.
