Welding to FEL Bucket --- Gas or Arc?

You old welder looks to be in pretty clean shape.. Crank that bad boy to 125 amps DC with some 7018 and you would have those hooks on in no time.

my old welder was my winter project to restore/clean/media blast/paint/new bushings/screws/cord w/plug - it was a fun project - the scooter steering wheel was froze up, that was the worst thing to get unstuck

I welded my hooks on to a piece of plate then bolted the plate on the bucket .

I kinda figured you might have put a bit of time into it.. Looks great.. It will probably outlast your grandson.

i bet you are right!!! it welds like a dream, if you cant weld with one of those on DC you may as well give up, its like melting butter

I welded the hooks and reinforcements on my bucket with it on the tractor. Made it easier to get to a good working height while I welded. I used my Lincoln SP100 120V mig. No problems with electronics or strength as far as I can tell.

I would be concerned about inadequate penetration.

The answer to the question is arc, not gas. But a mig or flux wire is capable.

I would be concerned about inadequate penetration.

Yee have little faith. I've been welding with this machine for 26 years and ain't had one break yet. I welded a 36" thumb on my New Holland 575E backhoe 3 years ago and have worked it every week without any sign of fatigue.

I built this utility trailer with it the same year I bought the welder and it still hauls everything I throw on it. I accidentally bent it a little with these stumps and putting down force on it with the excavator but I was able to straighten and reinforce it where it bent. NOTHING BROKE!

Yep, good old ark and crank up the amps for a good job.
If the surrounding metal glows a bit you know you have good penetration.
