Yes, the boot is secured to the solenoid body. Looks like with glue. Probably covering the pin you refer to.

Good, so the tube stays unattached. Thanks!

If one blocked the air intake, wouldn't that stall/stop the engine? ..... just wondering.

Shutting off the air is about the only way to shut down one that is running off. an old friend stopped a large Cat generator from running off like that by shoving his field jacket down the air intake tube, and then the Army promptly took the price of the jacket out of his pay because he intentionally destroyed gummint property!! Nice, eh?

I have never heard of these little fellas running off, but may be good to keep in mind.

Anyone who owns diesel equipment, or vehicles, should really learn where the shut off solenoid is. I've had to manipulate them on several different pieces of equipment to both start, and stop, them. Handy thing to know, and stops that 'panicked' feeling when the key doesn't work.

Good advice above though!

In the interest of those searching on this, I had this happen to me recently. Turns out, it was a blown fuse. Remove the screen under the steering wheel, and check the fuses. As it turns out, the aux wires that I had used to run the work lights on the ROPS come off the same circuit. When I broke a light, it shorted that circuit, and blew the fuse. Then the tractor wouldn't shut off...

Don't remember which fuse it is, but there's only 4 or 5 down there.

So, since I started this thread, thanks for all your responses! Besides killing it with the brake/HST combo, have learned also to manually kill it by moving the speed control plate in the engine compartment.

Today, finally took the stop solenoid to the dealer - asked the parts desk to test it - of course, he came back and said it was shot. (can't help but feel like the classic fox/chickenhouse...) anyway - still need to learn to do that type of test. Found an older thread from 2007 with diagrams for that.
Installed the new solenoid. still didn't shut off. Checked the fusebox a second time - the 10A fuse for the timer relay was broke. replaced that and so far, has now shut off at the ignition 3x now. like old times...wooo

now, the next question please: the solenoid rubber boot on the wire end includes a "tube" about 1.5 inches long at 90 deg to the body. The old solenoid, this was full of crud/dirt. So - is it correct to assume that this does NOT connect to any thing? Is it a breathing or heat dissipation tube or ?

So as usual, Dave 7040 was right -- check the fuses first. By the way I think the dealer owes you a return on the solenoid which was not bad after all. They won't of course since it is "electrical." BY THE WAY, I thought most 'Botas had a kill knob somewhere. I know my B2150's both have an orange knob about 1.25" diam. on the right of the console that you pull which kills fuel supply. Too lazy to go look at my BX2200.

On the old injection pump type Kubota engines there is usually a lever someplace on the pump where you can trip the stop lever to shut it down.

The BX 23’s have a plunger with red paint on it on the left side of the engine

But a shorted stop solenoid could have also blown the fuse. That happened to me in the past. Replaced fuse half a dozen times before it was sorted out. Intermittent shorting and fuse blowing didnt help
