You wouldn't even need the welding, threads, nuts or paint. Drill 5 holes in the rod, 1 inside and outside each wheel for keeper pins and 1 for the deck alignment pin. Paint? Ha!!

But again, all these implement dollies only work if you have a clean, smooth, paved floor. They won't roll worth spit over dirt, gravel, grassy areas or anything uneven or unlevel. Which means I can't use any of them.
I roll mine out into the yard over gravel and uneven terrain pretty easily. The large wheels make it a lot more manageable than even I expected. Turning is a b1tch, though.

Trouble is I can't find any wheels with 1" bore. Most are 1/2 or 5/8".

A 5/8" rod will fit inside a 1/2" pipe (with a little hammer work or a light grind of the rod surface). The OD of 1/2" pipe is about 1/8" under 1" so it will work as the axle. That's what I did for mine although I did weld the 5/8 rod to the pipe.

Why not? Couldn't you just swap those hard wagon wheels for 10 or 12" pneumatic or no-flats?

Maybe, but with the weight and size of these decks, you have to go fairly wide for any real stability. Then you end up taking more floor/ground space while stored.

Last Winter, I just offloaded mine against a fence and used a short rope to stand it up and tie it off.
