Not that it matters now but... has anybody ever bought a kit from "Palmetto State Armory"?

Not a kit. I bought a complete AR from them some yrs ago

Yeh, I bought quite a bit from them. They got decent uppers at a great price. Sometimes their lead time is ridiculously long though, and communicating with them sux.

Hopefully so, I've had a lower in the bottom of my gun cabinet for going on two years now. This thread made me decide that it's time to do something with it, so I ordered a kit last night. It has everything that I need except a rear sight and mags.

I've read where some people have mounted the scope I want on Creedmore's.
Do they have a serious kickback ?

If you are asking about 6.5 recoil, It is very manageable..

Isn't the 6.5 Creedmore, while not the same cartridge as the old Swedish Mauser 6.5 about the same ballistics? The Swedish Mauser was always known for a mild recoil.

I'm not familiar with the Mauser but the 6.5 Creedmore has light recoil compared to my 338 with similar ballistics.. The 338 is lighter recoil compared to my 300 Winchester Magnum.. My 300 is a kicker, the only reason I keep it is because of the 30 year old Sako that it's wrapped in, looks like a piece of fine furniture..

Explain to us again why you don't want a tubular mag that load from the bottom? Asking for a friend. i don't have a thing against box magazines, but for hunting/pest control guns, I don't have a thing against tubular mags either.

Ok,,,,, I have a 20ga Mossberg pump, loads from underneath, one by one to I think 5-ish and everytime I shoot skeet with it, I constantly rub my thumb against the loading slot, after a few boxes my thumb is skun up and sore, that's one reason I dont like pump. Now since 20 ga is bigger imagine how skun up my thumb would be with a smaller 410 loading from down under. That is one big reason why I'm a Henry fan, they have a loading tube, the absolute best why to reload and unload a gun besides clip, just wish Henry would make a a 410 3" lever..........

Try cradling the shotgun on your left arm barrell pointing up resting on your left shoulder with your left hand cradling the stock. Your right hand is free to manipulate shells. Drop a shell into the loading area and push it up and home past the shell catch with your middle finger. Yes, the same middle finger that you use to you show people that they are No. 1 with. :) Give that a try and see if it doesn't solve your discomfort problem.

Sorry no, this was NOT revealed long ago. Long ago, and not so long ago, consensus on that topic was this: .223 vs. 5.56: Which Ammunition Is Safe for My AR-15?

If it's now deemed ok to shoot 5.56 in a .223 barrel, I'd love to read some documented info to that effect.

This is CYA by the manufacturer. Long story short, higher rated pressure with a 5.56 compared to a .223

THAT said, I would never run garbage mil surplus ammo in a tack driver .223 bolt gun due to accuracy alone.

What shot are using with 410 single shot? Maybe go up a size so it spreads out a bit more to compensate for you're age...:D

Have you considered a Benelli ? I have the M1 , and I can literally shoot it one handed like a revolver,,
The use of recoil to cycle the action absorbs much of the felt recoil.

"The Benelli M1 semi-automatic shotgun based on the proprietary Benelli system, which utilizes the gun recoil and inertia of the moving parts to operate the action. This system was developed by Benelli by the mid-1980s, and is simple and reliable in operation. "

Try one of these before you commit to .410,,,

The reason I bought the M1 was that the recoil cycling allowed any type of ammo without adjustment,
You can load bird shot, 00 Buck, slugs, #4,, all without adjustment,,

Mine will hold nine (yes, 9 ) shells,,,
I didn't find 410 on the Benelli gun site, but did find sticker shock............... I'm a 410 and 20ga Dapper Dan man fan...............
