Remember when we had nut houses? Obummer closed them down, see how THAT is working out for us?

SR
But Reagan started it -
Which president closed mental hospitals?
Under President Ronald Reagan, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act repeals Carter's community health legislation and establishes block grants for the states, ending the federal government's role in providing services to the mentally ill. Federal mental-health spending decreases by 30 percent.

That wouldn't be bad if it loaded some other way, another gun from Turkey, seems like most of the import guns I look at are now coming from Turkey, must be good at it.

Explain to us again why you don't want a tubular mag that load from the bottom? Asking for a friend. i don't have a thing against box magazines, but for hunting/pest control guns, I don't have a thing against tubular mags either.

I thought I would open a thread to understand the AR rifle.

I have many firearms but no AR's, lots of people have them that go to the range I am a member of, I don't see the need for me to purchase one at this point. If I use a rifle for some reason I use a bolt action rifle.

A few questions for people that have them.

1. Why did you purchase it?
2. Other than capacity what advantages do they have as opposed to a semi automatic traditional rifle?
3. Did you build you're rifle or buy it complete?
4. What caliber did you purchase and why?
5. Is the SW sport 2 Magpul MOE M-LOK a decent firearm?

I would buy one if there is something I'm missing that is important to me but so far I'm not seeing it.
I toured Windam Weaponry, pretty neat place..

I hope this stays an educational thread..

I got one of those scary black rifles lol, but it's not all black though. I built it myself around a stripped receiver, it was fun. As the saying goes, it's like legos for grown kids. If you're gonna get the ar, makes sure it's chambered nato round 5.56 coz you could also shoot .223. If it's chambered .223, you won't be able to use 5.56 ammo.

Sorry, can't help you about the S&W sport specifically, but the ar is a great platform, and superfun to shoot, especially if you get a longer barrel and a scope.

cross compatibility of cartridge was long ago revealed as a non issue.

Maybe not so in a close fitting bolt gun, but in an Armalite or equal auto-loader, chambered "commercially". run either, the other, or both, with no worries.

Not that it matters now but... has anybody ever bought a kit from "Palmetto State Armory"?

Yeh, I bought quite a bit from them. They got decent uppers at a great price. Sometimes their lead time is ridiculously long though, and communicating with them sux.

I am in the market for a semi auto 410 but there's no US makers so have to look into foreign gun makers, dont care for that but found one place that seems to sell what I'm looking for. A 5rd clip that shoots 3", very very hard to find anywhere, 12 ga is much easier to find but my shoulder says no way.
.

Have you considered a Benelli ? I have the M1 , and I can literally shoot it one handed like a revolver,,
The use of recoil to cycle the action absorbs much of the felt recoil.

"The Benelli M1 semi-automatic shotgun based on the proprietary Benelli system, which utilizes the gun recoil and inertia of the moving parts to operate the action. This system was developed by Benelli by the mid-1980s, and is simple and reliable in operation. "

Try one of these before you commit to .410,,,

The reason I bought the M1 was that the recoil cycling allowed any type of ammo without adjustment,
You can load bird shot, 00 Buck, slugs, #4,, all without adjustment,,

Mine will hold nine (yes, 9 ) shells,,,

Which Reticle?

The Reticle insides of the Scope I want, they only sell it with a Duplex Reticle and I want the "Sabot Ballistics" Reticle.

Not sure if selling just the Duplex Reticle in the majority of their Scopes is something to get extra work and more money or an economic move to reduce inventories.

I just bought a FireDot 4 Fine Reticle, really nice.. VX-5HD 3-15x56mm CDS-ZL2..
Installed it on my Mark Vョ Deluxe in 6.5 Creedmoor..

I've read where some people have mounted the scope I want on Creedmore's.
Do they have a serious kickback ?

Anyone know the exact specs on 22 vs 223 army round and or have picture of them side by side? Guy at work says the caliber is the same but when I look them up the specs I got was 22=223" and the army 223=224" but couldn't find the gr difference, all I know is the 223 is a lot faster rd...............

I really have never looked it up but from what I THOUGHT... I was always under the idea that a 5.56 has both more powder and a larger bullet (62 grain).
So have more powder, hence more power, means the chamber needs to be heavier duty, AND the heavier 62 gr bullet also MAY need more twists in the barrel, hence... more twists in the barrel which may cause over spin of a lighter bullet (55 gr) of the .223 class.

Remember this is just something in my head, not a documented answer to the question.
