Give what a rest? Public forum buddy, don't like what people post read something else..
I LOVE to tell this story...
When I was putting a new 200 amp service into my shop, the power company FINALLY came out to hook it up. (literally turn it on) Anyway, everything was ready to turn it on and EVERYONE was standing around, except one guy. He was asleep in the cab of one of the trucks! lol
Anyway, I asked what's the hold up, and I was told they were waiting for the person to show up and tighten down the Allen heads, (the cable was already under the lugs) to secure the wire in the meter loop. At this point, I offered to let them use MY wrench, I offered to tighten them up for them ect....BUT, I was told it was a "union thing" and they had to wait for the person, who's job it was to do that!!
After more than an hour of standing around, a short gal shows up with a wrench and tightens up the Allen heads, then says to the very guy I had talked to, "here, check them"!!! He then took the wrench and finished tightening them!!!!
Only then did they go to the pole and switch the power on!!! How's that for spending the money from OUR electrical bill???? Did I say "spending?", I should have said WASTEING!!!
OOOOOH, the guy in the truck, we happen to know his wife, and she bragged her lineman husband made 39 bucks an hour!!!
You want to talk about the UAW??? I was in the UAW for a few years, I also have toured auto mfg. plants! I saw a guy stretched out on a piece of cardboard along the line, sound asleep!!! lol
I worked where they made ford dash panels, anyone here ever own a mustang that had a dash that rattled??? I can tell you why it rattled!!
SR
I have on 05 mustang, why does it rattle?
When I worked there, it was a lot older than that...I have on 05 mustang, why does it rattle?
My Olds Bravada (which I recently gave to my daughter) has over 120K on original brake pads and discs and still has plenty of pad on them. It spent the first 2 years in Canada and was driven year round. My Chevy truck has a bit over 50K, never driven in the salt and brakes are still good. I have pulled trailers with it all its life although nothing heavy that didn't have trailer brakes.
I doubt that your next Ford will be any different. My neighbor had to have a complete brake job on his Ford F 150 at less than 30K and he never pulls trailers and never stops hard (at least when I have been riding with him). I think he had to have brake pads changed again at 50K. SO Fords dont seem to be any different, sometimes you just get one that wears the brakes faster than others.
NO problem, go home and sleep!! Don't make me pay 39 bucks an hour for you to sleep!!
BTW, I was in the ibew for a few years too, we were building steel towers across the state. The boss sat in the truck with the motor running (winter) while we worked.
And, what about the wasted hour and a half, waiting for a gal to show up to tighten 3 lugs?? THEN having someone else tighten them??
There were two truck loads of guys standing around that day... How much is that @ $39 per hr.?
