Retail is in DEEP trouble, and my guess is they look for any possible angle to make them popular, especially using media, over their competition.

Yeah. The paint I was going to purchase was Kubota orange.
I asked why they needed that info. she said it was because young people were sniffing spray paint to get high. I asked ,, do I look like I'm young ?
I then said, You know, I could sell it to a young person if I wanted, so how is this ''store policy'' going to prevent some young person from sniffing paint She then said, ''it company policy''

They ask for your birthday but don’t ask to see an ID like they do to buy alcohol. There’s nothing stopping the said young people from saying their birthday is past 18 years ago. Considering there’s no age requirement to buy spray paint at Walmart or pretty much any other store it seems pointless anyway.

I hum and haw about buying a rattle can, if I can't find the Bonus, Industrial, can on SALE. I would like to know where the TAGGERS, that should have their pants pulled down and be whipped in the town square, like in Singapore, get the money to buy all that paint.

The only places that I will give personal information to is the doctor and pharmacy. TSC asking for a DOB to buy one of their products is ludicrous and I would leave it on the counter as well.. Intrusion of privacy for marketing purposes it's not something I will voluntarily be a part of..

When they scan an item at the cash out, that is enough information in itself..
I give a fake date, they dont care.

What's funny is, I haven't been asked for my ID to purchase alcohol in 30 yrs, yet TSC wants my info to buy a rattle can of paint, because they say young punks sniff the stuff..

April 1st 1980 (or 1960) works, unless you look too young to not ask for ID...

I ran into this at stop&shop, even though someone clearly looks over 21, they want an ID for their records a few months ago to buy alcohol, lighters, lighter fluid, tobacco, and other things, store policy, they may have been caught selling to minors.. no other place has done this. in MY State, the State sends minors to stores to see if the store will sell to minors..

Just the other day I bought a can of spray lube and spray grease for my garage. The cashier (who was older than I) asked me if I was 18. I said I wish and she agreed it would be nice to be 18 again and know what we know now. We had a good laugh but she never asked me to produce ID though..

Most lawyers would call that entrapment..
